Seems like your 382 should've made a bit more but then again your cam is TINY !!! How about doing a cam swap and making another 40+ rwhp ? Don't mind me, I hear ya when you say she pulls. I'll bet that small cam and the longer stroke give you a ton of TQ from idle. Could you post a graph ?

I saw the graph at the end but can't read it. GLad you are happy bro !!!

yeah the graph is not very legible - sorry. I'm gonna reload it. The engine came complete from an 01 ta which had a 150 shot hooked up...I just wanted to put the engine and get goin...In the future I may consider some upgrades here and there but since its a daily driver in the summer, it gets me where i want to go!
I will get that graph up

Sounds like a nice driver. You'll never hurt those Dyers rods.

Well considering its a daily driver then I say don't change a thing. That is one bad ***, and per the setup should be quite reliable. What springs do you have ? I hope you have a good set though considering you are going to DD her. Either that or you'll be changing them every year if you put a bunch of miles on the motor.

HUH?

With a .525 lift cam he can use ls6 springs with no problem at all.

Not huh? More like DUH? I say if he plans to DD the car, even with the .525 lift cam, go a step up from the bare minimum. I few bucks extra now and the springs will last forever, well not forever but you get the point. No need using stock springs when there are so many upgrades available at such a small investment.

I'm with Doug on the springs unless your running the stock ls6 cam those springs are being taxed big time. Your probably running into valve float problems in the upper rpms. Upgrade the springs and you'll be golden...

THanks for the back up Frank. You also brought up a good point that I didn't even mention. Valve Float. Very serious situation that you don't want to deal with. Those spings control your valve events. When they start floating can you say trouble just waiting to happen?

So you are saying Ls6 springs wont work with an ASA cam right? Im not just looking at the lift im also looking at the ramp rate which is going to be very soft when you have such a large duration with a small amount of lift.

Not saying you are wrong but ls6 springs WILL work with that cam for many many miles.

I am not saying it won't work, I am saying IMO I think it would be wiser to use a bit stouter single spring setup for added reliability and durability.

LS6 springs will work for the ASA cam, but they cannot be forgotten and will still need to be pressure checked once a year or every 15k miles.
01 springs are only rated to .540 lift, 90 seat pressure at 1.8 and 260 open, they are not as strong as 02+ (that is why GM revised them)

Hey Predator, thanks for posting what I was thinking.

What aftermarket spring would go with on this setup?

Anything new with you and your car? PM me......

I personaly would run PAC 1218 if I were to change them, budget then would be 02>04 LS6.

No nothing new with the ride, just DDing it. The economic crunch is making me being more careful in my spendings
