Guess I Got a Factory Freak SS, Lid + Cutout = ?
Was a little surprised actually. I got this '00 SS back in October and got it on the dyno today for tuning to see what we could get out of it. I knew it ran pretty good as it went 109.75 on the LS1 intake before I brought it up to "2001 stock" with the LS6 intake.
It's the exact same as any stock 01-02 V8 F-Body, plus a lid and cutout, home ported throttle body and no cat on the passenger's side (still has factory cat on driver's side, still has stock untouched manifolds, still has stock flattened y-pipe).
Those are the only power mods. 6-speed car, stock gears, heavy 19" wheels and tires. No dyno tricks or gimmicks. Drove 60 miles there, threw it on the dyno, and drove it 60 miles back home. Pretty sure the final tune for max power was with 29* of timing and AFR right at 12.8-12.9 for the highest power pull.
345rwhp/352rwtq
Rumor has it the dyno is a little on the low side. I can't verify this myself, but from other cars that were there today with the mods they had it didn't seem to be handing out overinflated numbers. I wouldn't say it's on the low side either though. Pretty much dead on from what I've seen posted elsewhere.

My 2000 SS with the stock cam started losing power right after 5500 rpm. It's really hard to tell with your hp increments but it looks like yours pulls to 6200 rpm with out falling off at all. Might have a LS6 cam in it. Throw a set of headers on there with full exhaust and an underdrive pulley and you will probably be around 375 rwhp. Sounds pretty high to me.

Interesting theory Nitroused. The guy I bought it from was a single owner and said it was all stock except for the catback, but who knows. It does carry power pretty high though, at least by the looks of the graph (the increments are also really high on this graph too though, a more focused-in graph might show more of an actual drop).
Good catch Slowhawk. You're right. It's been so long since I've dynoed that I didn't even pay attention to it. SAE are the numbers. 335/345 is still a lot more than I expected out of it. I thought I'd see 325rwhp tops. I'm pretty happy with the car. Should have known to look out for something like that though, they're primarily a Mustang shop.

Cutout + small warehouse with a dyno that doesn't have venting and has you backed right up against the wall for the sound to bounce off of = loud. The camera mic was pretty sensitive too for what it's worth. Like I said, passenger's side doesn't have a cat either, just the driver's side (long story).
STD numbers, but I'm also on heavy 19" wheels, so I figure that balances out a bit. I was actually low on tire pressure too. Didn't even bother checking. I'm really curious what it would put down on some lighter stock 17" wheels.

there are more differences between the early ls1s and the later ls1s than just the ls6 intake.
different cam
different heads
different manifolds
just saying....
but NICE numbers.
seems funny that everyone seems to have "a dyno that reads a little low"
and seriously...on cat gutted one not ...really??

Not buying the LS6 cam theory. Its just the tight scaling of the graph making it seem like it doesn't fall off.
My graph from a while ago looks similar. Doesnt start falling off hard until 6200.

Theres a guy in another thread pushing 335rwhp...but hes going down the quarter in the 11s@116....dyno numbers is a good reference, but not all.

Only one cat on the driver's side for a few reasons. Originally I gutted both cats because one was clogged, and I didn't want a cat on one pipe and a gutted cat on the other. When I was gutting the cats the factory weld on the driver's side cat cracked. Once it was all back together I had a massive exhaust leak on the driver's side. So for a fix we took another stock midpipe assembly from a F-Body to replace the busted piece.
I thought about gutting it so it would match, but honestly for a daily driver it was louder than I wanted with both cats gutted. I then thought about replacing the passenger's side with the other catted midpipe too, but we had already busted one stud on the driver's side and didn't want to take a chance and going through all the trouble on the passenger's side too (and it was also a little too quiet with both cats in tact). It's a modded as it will ever get for me. I just want a quick, fun daily driver. Having one cat gutted and one not gutted won't matter (obviously from the dyno numbers and track times).

Also like I said I don't think the dyno is low. I don't think it's high either though. From what I've seen on other dynos that are right where they are supposed to be it's right on par. As I said they were using STD numbers, which isn't the norm, but at the same time I'm also on heavy 19" wheels. Maybe not a total wash, but I was still impressed with the car (whether it was mine or someone else's, I'm not a dyno number jockey nor do I even care about track times that much, just so long as the car is fun on the street because that's where I'm at 99% of the time).
