Default 1000whp...

Ok. So i just started automotive school at the end of December. Today i got into a discussion with a group of guys and they start talking about big HP cars. A couple of the guys were Honda guys. I heard someone mention something about building a 1000WHP car for $10,000. I immediatly threw up the BS flag. They all looked at me like I was an idiot and were saying stuff like "1000WHP is easy to make" "$10,000 to build a car is a lot of money!" Am i wrong for calling BS on building a 1000WHP car for $10,000 or are these guys just idiots... Just wanted to see if I was in the dark and the one thats really an idiot...

depending on where and how you get parts. you can do it. I've never heard of it being done but i think if you really shop around and you know what to buy and how to squeeze every single pony out then its possible. If the 10,000 is not including the car then hell no. never gonna happen!

My god, what the hell are you people on?

Do you know how many people on here would have 1000Rwhp cars if 10 grand is all it costs, that is dirt cheap.

You could make around 750Rwhp or so with that money MAYBE. That extra 250Rwhp is going to take a LOT more than 10k.

<<< 618/695 I have 5 g's INTO the car counting my 9" rear. no way in hell I'm 1000rwp with another 5g's.

I got lucky and bought a sts car off a friend, sold that **** for 3,500 and built my own 76mm kit up front for 2500. spent the other 1000 on fuel. then needed suspension mods, more tire, better clutch ect.... I'm still on the stock engine, so now I need a short block,th400,stall,ect... no way for 10k.

I think its possible but wont be reliable, forged 408 with a 300 direct port kit and a 200-250 plate. Might last for a few dyno runs

Nitrous and lots of it is about the only way and like (streetassasin) mentioned it might last a few dyno runs. However I don't see why a forged 408 built for nitrous couldn't handle that amount of a hit.

I'm also unclear about the 10,000 budget. Is it 10k to build the motor and thats it or is it the entire car ?? Motor, nitrous, and fuel maybe, I stress maybe. Now will it be reliable probably not, but you could probably hit the 1000 rwhp number on the dyno before you blow it up.

Tell them to go do it if it's so easy. You'll either get a bunch of BS about how they're going to someday or about how they would if they had the money.

Ask them how would they going about doing this and then post it up. Either we are all going to get a good laugh or we all are idiots. I am banking with the first of the two

I'm with Lemons12... If you could get 1000rwhp with $10k then I'm pretty sure about 90% of the people on tech would have the power... You can't do it. Not with that amount of money.
