If I had to guess, it was probably worth 3-5 rwhp on my setup but who knows, also running a fram paper air filter. It's a shame alot of these budget cnc ported heads that flow 300 + cfm don't deliver real results like a set of heads I have $450 invested in. Highway robbery, I feel bad for most people who have been taken, they honestly were too naive to know any better.
i hear ya on the budget CNC heads..i made that mistake a few yrs ago..definately didnt get what i paid for..
but i will say the quality of the "budget heads" has improved since i made my purchase..
and your very fortunate to have the tools to do the VJ and blending yourself..if i were to duplicate what you did,it would cost me as much as a set of "budget" heads..
but today if i were to buy a set of heads on a budget,i would pay someone that knows LS heads to do exactly what you did..
hell,PM me with a price you would charge to do this..i might have a line on a set of 243s dirt cheap..

i have 600 invested in them , they are now on my lq4 and never dyno tuned it. All street tune so i dont know how they will dyno. May have to talk to Geoff at EPS and go throw it on the dyno for ***** and giggles.
I know the lq4 raised the mph from 120 in full street trim to 122 in full street trim with out dyno tuneing .
Doesn't it make you wonder why 300 cfm cnc stock castings and donkey dick cams struggle to hit those numbers?

because most people judge a head just by flow #s..if it flows 300cfm then it's got to be a bad *** head, right?
another marketing gimmick..

hell even the heads on my Nova are 5.3 heads with 2.0 int. 1.6 exh valves only flow 283 and with a truck intake on it , 5000 rpm stall with a lot of slippage made 392 rwhp on 31x13 m/t slicks. I have $400 in those heads. but that was someone in a time of need selling them for that cheap.

Almost forgot, made 428 rwhp / 399 rwtq through the factory slp dual dual. The I-pipe is 2.75" O.D. and has a nasty crush bend right over the axle. When I put the 9" in I will install a 3" dynomax I pipe from summit, hope it helps, I really prefer the sound of the dual dual. 16 hp / 15 tq with open cutout.

nice numbers man. attention to detail ALWAYS pays off. ive built my car on an extremely tight budget so its nice to see results like this off budget builds. doesnt mean we're cheap, just selective

I really want to commend you on putting together a well thought out combination. This is what a select few people on here have been preaching for a long time.

Thanks for the kind words guys I really appreciate it. I've always been one to try and make the most out of a given set of parts / money. I try to do things that are going to give the best results for least money. It's sad a lot of people have forgotten how to think for themselves. They just slap this part or that part on and keep pouring money into something until it works for them, can't polish a turd! Between all my other hobbies it really doesn't make sense to dump all the money into my car. Dirtbikes, snowmobiles, custom long range rifles, hunting and oh ya this solid roller 383 70 Chevelle project I've been working on since HS, it all adds up! I've been really fortunate to have the use / help from my Dad / friends to do all my own work. Using a lift makes it so nice!

The Fast 78 is a 3 piece design, there is a link on the 1st page if you scroll down explaining what I did. The midwest chassis 9" with 4.11's is in (finally sigh). My racestars are mounted up with fresh slicks. Our track finally opens tomorrow night but the forecast is predicting rain. I may go insane if our track never opens! I also removed the stock over the axle pipe, that thing crushed down to 2". Installed a 3" mandrel bent over the axle pipe from dynomax. It changed the rumble of the car noticeably, alot deeper sounding now. Hoping for 11's around 120 mph at our track (2400' elevation). Wish me luck.

Awesome results. I've read MANY setups and dyno graphs and this proves that doing it your self while still on a budget will yield great results. Makes me want another Camaro.

They are 15x10 Racestar wheels bought them brand new for $350 shipped (just rears with lug nuts and center caps). A guy on tech here sells them. The tires are a 26x11.5-15 M&H cheater slick. Our track got rained out again yesterday but they just opened today. I'm trying to get out there but ran into some issues.

Well my car is cursed. I've had nothing but problem after problem. I've spent well over 100 hours in the last 4 weekends working on this pos I'm about to roll it off a cliff. I've had the rear apart more times than I ever should have, thanks strange!!!! First thing after I got the rear going my alternator took a ****. I spent 10 hours getting it all buttoned up and finished at 5 am as it was opening day for our track and it was nice out. Drove 2 hours to the track and waited iwhat seemed like forever to make a pass. Now was the moment 2 cars in front and I was finally going to make the pass I've been waiting to make since I've bought the car.

Cars idling great ready to go and nothing car dies with one car in front to go. Frantically I try to restart the car and my heart sinks. Embarassed I push my car off the track and tell my buddies its dead. I hoped maybe I didn't have enough gas in it so we dump 5 gallons in and it wouldn't build fuel pressure. I installed a walbro 255 the same time I did the rear and I've put over 500 miles on the car since. I'm pretty sure the rubber line on the pump split or came off. Of all the moments in the world it quits than and there.

So I helped tune a few buddies cars the rest of the day waiting for my trailered ride home. The track had never been prepped so well in its life as I watch pass after pass of friends ripping off new personals best and killer 60' with traction we've never seen. I've never wanted anything more so bad than to make a pass with no fear of blowing my rear. It was what all the 1000s of dollars and 100s of hours of labor had come down to. I think my motivation and will to work on my car another weekend is gone. Someone has cursed me, everytime I put slicks on the 10 bolt last year the track rained out. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

Yup I got her back running again, this time with fuel injection hose clamps and not the junk speed tweakers sends. Like I thought the rubber line blew off the regulator. Funny you mention it, I did 360's down the track last year going 90 mph and did hit the wall. ******* street tires and coolant on the track are no good. Nothing like trying to drive your car backwards at a high speed, oh oh about to hit the wall, let off the brakes and crank the wheel while looking in the rear view mirror. Luckily the damage was minimal, curse car I tell you. On the way back to where I live tonight it was raining cats and dogs. I hit what seemed like a pond and thought the LS1 was dead. Sucked some water, had no power and sounded like it was running under water. I took the air filter off and it was wet but it seems to be running still. FML

The real measure where things are judged is the track. Dyno numbers are fun to talk about... hope to see what you get soon!

Dyno is good to compare your mods when you use the same dyno with most variables the same. The track is good for showing your hp from 5000-7000 rpm. No track times will ever show you what kind of power under the curve you have or how a car drives. Trust me I've been dieing to make a pass, the odds are against me and it's f'in ridiculous. I'm not expecting anything spectacular from our track, 2200' elevation, always humid and hot (70 + degrees). If I run high 11's around 118-120 mph I will be happy. I ran 115 mph in 4000' DA last year with 411 rwhp, which corrected to 120 + mph @ sea level. I could only dream of what it would run if I could see -1000' DA like some people. Comparing your times from one track to another is also useless, not all timing systems are exactly the same, completely flat, uphill or downhill? 11's NA at our track will be damn impressive.

I've got this for now and using my stop watch it looks like 0-115 mph in 11.8-12 seconds on my street tires. Forget I was playing with my own rev limiter -10 degrees of timing starting at 6400 rpm lol so it don't get to 120 as fast. Not bad for holding the camera with one hand and shifting haha. Not to mention full weight, 3/4 tank of gas, spare tire jack, suitcase, extra alternator (#$#$#@$!!), tools. I'd say 3800lbs+ with me in it, I weigh 200lbs. 122,000 miles too.
