Gained 33 hp / 27 tq with Fast 85 and underdrive
I just redyno'd the car and since last time I have added a ported fast 85 mm that I did up myself (15 hours), also installed a powerbond underdrive pulley and SD tuned the car myself with hptuners and a ngk afx wideband (maf delete). I gained 25 ftlbs @ 3000 rpm, im at 365 rwtq, pretty impressive for unported heads. Did a pull to 6800 rpm and was within 10 hp from 5800-6800.
Mods:
Unported 243 heads milled to 62cc (11:1) with a 5 angle valve job I spent 20 hours on.
Custom BRE 224 cam
Self ported fast 85mm with 85mm ported professional products intake
SLP lid with my maf delete
Ebay SS 1 3/4" headers with self built exhaust, custom 3" ory to 3.5" flowmaster merge to a 3.5" manual cutout.
Powerbond underdrive
36lb red top injectors
Stock GM 10 bolt with 3.42 gears, midwest chassis 9" with 4.11's on the way
LS7 clutch
Heavy ZR1 17 wheels
This has all been a budget setup, very low amount invested.
120,000 mile stock bottom end LS1.
Proving to all internet people a well setup engine will produce amazing results.
Disregard the max torque, was having a problem with the tach signal on the dyno. I will get the other run files from the dyno operator and post up the 6800 rpm pull. I was only expecting 430 rwhp so I am very pleased my hard work has paid off.
444 rwhp / 414 rwtq
6800 rpm pull on this run

Found a way to actually post a smooth graph, 147 mph = 6800 rpm
The 224 cam that could!

Thanks guys, it picked up alot more in some areas than I expected. 365 rwtq @ 3000 it pretty sick out of a 346, almost 400 tq @ 3800. Here is another graph. As you can tell my car was never real stout as a bolt on car. This is why I base lined my car, I wanted more power everywhere, looks like we've well exceeded that now! I wish the dyno run showed up a little smoother, oh well.

Nice numbers from a small cam, I'm trying to do your same setup actually.
So just curious what head bolts/studs and head gaskets did you use? I have some 799's that I'm looking to install after some portwork.

They are LS7 lifters I installed 12,000 miles ago as well as the PAC 1518 single beehives. Pulled to 6800 with no valve float, 428 rwhp @ 6800
Question: Has anyone ever made 400 rwtq @ 3800 rpm before with a 346?

Great gains! That's a very impressive setup.
I've been thinking about picking up a used 78mm FAST intake. I already have a 78mm FAST throttle body and 78mm nitrous plate, so if I go bigger then I will have to spend the extra on those. Looks like the 78 will go a long way with a little work! Do you have any pictures of the porting you did?

Nice numbers Jason that guy gave you a hell of a deal on that "worthless" 78mm Fast what a piece of garbage he sold you but hey it work out pretty good for you in the end. Now its time to tune my GTO to some 500rwhp?

SRZ here is the link to what I did to the intake http://www.hardcorels1.com/vbulletin...highlight=fast I also port matched the lower section of the intake to my heads, not sure how many people do this but some of the ports were way off, around .125" on #7 & #8. I also have 2 higher flowing injectors on the back two cylinders, 7 and 8.
Here is also some pics of the head work I did a few years ago https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...-new-mods.html

I did, back in 2002/3 with a set of hand ported 853 heads (Joe Prince ported them) with a set of mac headers with a crappy 2.5" ypipe, ls6 intake, mail order tune and TR224 cam.
Since then, I've done long tubes w/3" ypipe, Venegance ported FAST 90/90, bigger intake lid, custom tune, lighter flywheel, bigger injectors, so I'm sure I gained at least 15ft/lbs if not more.

Thats weird you made so much torque yet you didn't hit 350 rwtq until 3500 rpm where mine is already at 365 @ 3000. Pretty stout, throw her back on the dyno!
Edit: Nevermind your dyno is not on an equal scale for hp / torque , very weird graph

I do plan to get it back on dyno, more to just make sure my afr and wideband is accurate, but I'm also curious where I'm at power wise. I've talked to BRE about getting a set of his heads and cam before, so I know we're on the same page about bigger isn't always better.
My guess of my current power, 450hp/420tq. I dyno'd back in 2002/3 with 17s and now have 19s, so that'll eat some power.

Measured every valve angle on the seats and held all to an exact width and tolerance. I also recut every valve and added a back cut to the intake valves, hand lapped every intake and exhaust valve to seats. Blended the top cut perfectly smooth into the combustion chamber at a precise angle. Hand blended all the sharp edges on the Fast into nice radius'd entrances and exact same cross sectional areas. I spent a lot of time digging out the old rtv out of the fast and sealing it back up piecing that stupid orange gasket rope back together. I sliconed all 3 layers together, this bitch is never coming back apart lol!
I know it's not some 500 rwhp setup, but to me I am very impressed. $180 headers, home built non mandrel bent exhaust, $30 cutout, $400 heads + $50 mill job, $300 intake, $180 throttle body. I was too cheap to buy an 85mm MAF so I said F it and spent $30 on a silicone connector and stainless clamps. The most expensive thing I hesitated so long on buying was the $210 underdrive pulley kit that probably only gained 10hp. Bret said there is still another 20+ rwhp with another cam under 240 duration. I've spent way more money on a rearend, driveline, rims, tires than anything. Hell I only paid $6,600 for the car 2 years ago. I'm a cnc / manchinist, so I'm even more of a perfectionist by nature. I almost forgot, I bought a set of unkown ported 5.3 heads on here a couple years ago for $600 which ended up being ETP 5.3 heads and resold them for $1000. So I made $400 on that deal which paid for my 243 heads.
Hey I didn't forget you. Well following my budget theme: Stock GM .051" MLS gaskets ($28 / pair Scoggin Dickey) and stock GM head bolts. I guess having 205-230 psi (used 3 gauges and all 3 read different) cranking compression could have something to do with all the torque 8.9:1 Dynamic compression ratio will do that. Good ole 120,000 mile LS1 was within 3 psi on every cylinder haha.
