418ci, 6l heads very mildly ported, vindicator cam,36lb injectors, ls6 intake and ported and polished tb,long tubes with true duals, built a4, yank 3000 stall, strange 9" rear
bryan at pcmforless got me on the dyno today and it pulled 440hp 460tq
i was hoping for 500whp, he said those 6l heads are most of the problem, they arent flowing very good.
besides heads what will really wake this thing up? it seems to run almost stock till i floor it, and it doesnt rev fast at all. it over all just feels really restricted

For an NA application the Fast intakes will work wonders for a lot of your issues like the lack of power for your CI etc... Including but not limited to your shitty HP number and lazy feeling revs. Brian at PCM's for less is usually spot on on his tunes so I would start there and see what happens. GL!

Change the heads for sure. Are they milled at all? What compression you running? The Vindicator is an OK cam, not really optimal for 418ci though. The LS6 intake is choking it big time too. Was the torque converter locked? The 9" is sucking up some power too.

Is that a dynojet or mustang dyno? I agree with inspector that a fast set up would better compliment your set up.
for comparison purposes, my 416 w/ TSF 235 heads, 244/250 112lsa cam, and fast 92/92 dynoed 510rwhp/500 rwtq on a mustang dyno. BUT that was with an M6, 10 bolt, and 26" tall radials.

thanks for the advice guys.. the machine shop said im running a hair over 11:1 and it was on a dynojet with the converter locked. and he said that the injectors were plenty when he was adjusting af ratio. i figured the intake was choking it but funds dried up after the short block.. what i was wondering is would something like a L92 head and intake due better? i really wanna wake this thing up and pull up in the 500+ range

I think ported L92s and a better intake would make a big diff. WCCH heads have shown well. Try those along with a GMHP L92. And you'll need fuel rails...and maybe injectors or adapters lol
Isn't it a little odd that your torque is higher than your HP? What are teh approximate specs on the cam?

Unless you do all your own work AND have free time I'd say figure out what you realy want and save until you can get it. Watching the parts section of these forums can also help.
The above suggestions aren't bad, but if you later go back and change them again looking for more power it's going to cost a good bit more than just doing it once.

the ls6 head has to small of a combustion chamber for my pistons. thats why i went with the 6l heads. they are the only ones with 72cc combustion chambers.
I know this shortblock is capable of alot more NA power i just need to get the right combo to make it. so right now im looking for some l92 heads and i might save for a fast 102 intake for it. i was thinking the cam im running might be on the small side for the big cubes.. so i was found this speed inc. SSX stroker cam cam what do you think?

It just sounds like the whole combo is keeping it back on those cubes. Mild ported 6l heads at 72cc, LS6 intake, and Vindicator cam.
I'm thinking have the heads ported more and milled, FAST intake, and a custom grind.

Well a little more advice is do it one thing at a time. If you change a bunch of stuff you don't really know what the main issue is. Did you ever get any flow numbers for the heads you have on the car? If you just start throwing parts at it you are going to be waisting a lot of money. Oh and the one person that asked about the TQ being higher that the HP that is what I have seen on every single large CI motor with an LS6 intake. Peak TQ it low in the RPM range and the small intake chokes it down up top to keep the HP numbers low etc...
