TEA Heads and cam on an LS2, only 425 rwhp? Update: 475 rwhp
#41
Well I spoke w/ Mike S from TEA Friday and he informed to me that the cam specs out on the cam doctor. I was actually hoping it was the cam after all of the work to pull it out, but it isn't the problem.
Brian Tooley thinks it's the cats, so this afternoon I got underneath the car and pulled the mid-pipe and I'm going to have a shop go ahead and 86 the cats all together.
A couple of other things I plan to do is to descreen my MAF and ad a smooth coupler. I'm going to go ahead and bump up the cam on Tooley's recommendation to a Pat G 230/240 114+3. Finally I'm going to bite the bullet spend the money on a FAST 102mm intake. Haven't decided whether to do the underdrive pulley yet...maybe though? ATI or ASP...not sure.
I hope to have every thing buttoned up after the Thanksgivings holiday. Brian Tooley & Dr. Carlin are going to come and help degree the cam this time and I'll be heading to Nashville soon after to dyno it.
Thanks for your inputs and suggestions...if you have any other recommendations please let me know.
I'll keep you guys posted on the outcome and obviously the final numbers.

Update, Jim will probably jump in here too. He gutted the cats, changed to a FAST 102 unported, and changed cam. After I tuned it on the street and then on the dyno 476 rwhp/ 415 rwtq.
New cam was off the shelf Comp 231/239

I'm sure the Random Tech cats were some of it but I'm guessing the cam was poorly matched for his heads. 50 hp gain wasn't in the cats. Maybe 20 in the FAST 102. When he posts his graph you'll see he gained a ton of mid range torque. New cam is on LSL lobes.

The LS2 intake is probably the WORST intake GM has ever made.. ok ok.. I might even go as say its worst than an LT1 aluminum intake... IT SUX>> LOL
FAST 102... Bigger TB...Kooks 1 7/8 xpipe...get er done..
Look at my LS2...

Yes I'm quite pleased with the new set up.
I'd like to thank Mike Schmitt from TEA for working with me to resolve my past Oct.`10 dyno issues, Brian Tooley for helping me pick out my new cam and degree the new cam and finally Bryan Carlin for his wrenching & tuning efforts.

What was the difference in tuning between those two pulls? That's a large difference in torque with the same basic air/fuel ratio.
Looks a little fat at peak power, dipping below 12:1 air/fuel ratio. Peak power air/fuel ratio can easily go 13:1 and should make best power there, 12.5:1 is good for peak torque.
Enjoy!

I'm glad it's closer to where it should be, I can't believe you didn't port match that intake with all the expert instruction you had
