I'm sure the Random Tech cats were some of it but I'm guessing the cam was poorly matched for his heads. 50 hp gain wasn't in the cats. Maybe 20 in the FAST 102. When he posts his graph you'll see he gained a ton of mid range torque. New cam is on LSL lobes.
So basically what you're saying is that the original spec'd TEA cam was down 20 or so rwhp. ~25 was from the fast, ~5 from the gutted cats means the rest was from the cam. Doesn't bode much confidence in TEA's cam recommendations for their very own heads??

Or did the FAST make that much of a difference over the stock ls2 that it gained over 40rwhp just from that? I've seen good results on the 102, but not that good...

[QUOTE=Brian Tooley;14644623]I'm glad it's closer to where it should be, I can't believe you didn't port match that intake with all the expert instruction you had

Brian, that's a small summer job for you when you get some free time and willing to help me out w/ another 10 to 12HP.

If you look at the original dyno sheet's, the torque curve is uphill all they way until it tanks at the exact same spot everytime. That's either a defective cam, or clogged cats. The first cam is the Stg III TFS which is a 228/230, back when that cam was developed it made great power. The cam was cam doctored only on 2 lobes, so we made the decision to replace the cam to eliminate it as a possibility. I think half the power was the cats, but I could be wrong.

Didn't read the thread did you? Cats were eliminated, FAST 120 installed and bigger cam swapped in.

Cats vs no cats = small difference
Known good cats vs CLOGGED cats = MONSTER difference. May have been most of the problem all right there...
