Default Opinions on my dyno results

Sorry I dont have the actual graph to post.

I have a 2000 Trans Am A4.

MY MODS
Pacesetter LT's
custom x-pipe with borla mufflers
3.42 gears
air box
G5X3 cam
LS1 INTAKE

My dyno number was 364 rwhp. This seems low to me. I feel like maybe my problem is with the LS1 intake. Would the LS6 intake help me much?
Also I figure it doesnt matter but i dont have a converter in the car yet.

Thanks

Your numbers are quite good considering the few mods you have. If you want substaintally more you will need heads and a cam.

i have seen some pretty impressive numbers out of the X3 cam. more into the 385-390 range (and higher). get the ls6 intake and the asp pulley and youll prolly see some pretty good results

Do you have tuning? If your rev limiter isn't moved up you will not see the peak #'s you are looking for. I have the mods in my sig and am making 375/380 through a stock TB and LS1 intake, you should be at least 15 or 20rwhp above that with you cam...........

are we talking locked up or not? I use much smaller cam, but do have ls6 intake. Kinda pointless to dyno locked up since i'll never really race locked up, unless im trying to destroy my tranny.

i'm guessing the stock verter locks up too.. i know mine did. you can tell by the dyno if you look at my sig, when the stock verter is dyno'd unlocked it will have that small torque line, the aftermarket tci ssf3500 has a much more pronounced torque line, it almost looks wrong, but both the stock and aftermarket converters can be dyno'd unlocked or locked, and i'm guessing both will suffer from inefficiency when unlocked,
but as i said, you'd have to have ballz to shift locked up or a badass verter and tranny

If you get a ram air package, K&N air filter, get the computer reprogrammed, get that LS6 intake ported and pollished, put that coverter in, and put some billit pullys you will see some numbers you are proud of.

What is the point of running that cam and not a converter.

well im not a total moron first off. i have a converter on its way i just didnt have it in yet when i got the car dynoed.

I had LG install, tune, and dyno the car. Lou said he thinks most of my problem was the intake. I did look at the graph and notice that it didnt go up past about 6600 rpm.

Thanks for all the opinions guys im gonna try the intake and the pulley and see what happens

Looks like the hp fell off at ~6200. Couldn't lack of air flow (LS1 intake) cause this. Someone help me, im new at this!!

Nice numbers!! LS6 intake is worth at least 10RWHP on that setup

Hey man, I am going through the same thing as you right now. I added the G5X1 cam and a solid valvetrain, QTP longtubes with their 3” into 4” Y-pipe and I only pulled my buddy three more cars than before the install. I figure that’s good for maybe 360rwhp considering that I put down 331rwhp/338rwtq with a lid and cutout.
Do you still have a stock air box? You put down ‘airbox’ but didn’t really specify. I would bet almost 15rwhp could be had with a $100 direct-flo lid on your car. It’s amazing because I know guys in the 365rwhp range with just longtubes and true duals like yourself. Its like your cam didn’t even do anything…. I’m sticking with the corked theory, all exhaust and no intake.

I have LS1 edit but haven’t gotten around to tuning it yet. I think once I add an LS6 intake, ported TB and tuning that my car will be closer to 400rwhp. I know the guy before me who had this cam gained 16rwhp when he switched to an LS6 intake alone, nothing else. That would put me at 375. A ported TB should be good for at least another 5-7 so lets just go low and say 5, which is 380. I am running extremely rich right now (you shouldn’t be able to smell fuel 50 feet behind your car) so I am honestly expecting another 15rwhp out of the tune. My car is all exhaust mods. Only intake I have is lid and filter. This cam is bigger on exhaust duration and I added the best flowing longtubes and y-pipe you can get (friend dyno’d 13 rwhp more with QTP’s than with his SLP’s.) Its corked, LS1 intake = pinchpoint

Even though I only have the G5X1, it is still a big cam. It was the big boy just last year. I’m pretty sure the specs are 229/233 .575/.585 on a 112lsa. I’m just saying, someone above said that your X3 is good for 400rwhp on stock heads. I figured it was good for about 420 with stock heads. 400rwhp isn’t that big of a deal with stock heads anymore to be honest with you. I know guys like the one on here with a hotcam putting down 403/380 with longtubes, ls6 intake, ported TB, pulley and tuning- and it drives great, much better than mine. I think mine is kind of rough actually. I couldn’t imagine an X2 or even an X3! What is it, like 244/240 .620/.615 110lsa? Did they have to put valve relief’s in your stock pistons for clearance? …anyway, and then this new thunder cam put down 450rwhp on stock heads!!! Your cam is supposed to be equally huge. What’s the point of running a valve-spring-snapping cam and wearing down the hell out of your engine with that size of a cam if it isn’t getting you huge results? (btw, I hope you got aftermarket lifters with that cam, your stock ones will be losing pressure in no time.) If I only get 380rwhp after all said and done I will just switch to a TR224/224. I know plenty of guys putting that number down with that cam and not even all the bolt-ons. Keep me posted, V6camaro@aol.com. Later- Mike W.
