Default H/C/I + TC76 Turbo @ 7lbs

Today I was determined to figure out what the hell is going on with my car. Ever since I installed the turbo my afr has had some crazy spikes (misfire). I've played with tightening the plug gap, wires, tuning all sorts other crap. Finally I solved the problem, it was my 125,000 mile coils, swapped my buddies 06 LS2 coils on and picked up over 100 rwhp.

125k stock bottom end LS1
11:1 compression, BRE 224 cam, self ported fast 85... etc click my sig for all my N/A results, basically 444 rwhp before turbo.
NGK BR7EF plugs gapped at .022"
Single walbro with 60lb injectors
AlkyControl 15gph nozzle meth kit, 100% meth
KYTP TC76 truck manifold kit
MWC 9" with 3.5 gears and 21lb driveshaft
17" factory SLP Zr1 wheels
T56 with Mcleod twin disc RXT clutch (badass)
SLP dual dual exhaust with 4" DMH cutout, I forgot to dyno with the cutout closed! This is also with the airfilter, forgot to try taking that off too.

580 rwhp with 10.x AFR, I wasn't after max power, just wanted to solve my misfire issues. I could have hit 600 I'm sure but figured I should call it a day with my 125,000 mile LS1. Before anyone says fix the tune / lean it out yada yada, it runs 11.3-11.5 afr on the street and thats where I run it, not the dyno.

N/A Power vs 7lbs

15.5 Degrees of timing vs 17.5 Odd how 2 degrees of timing made it go so much richer, must be a more complete burn since I didn't adjust fueling at all.

I will get some videos as I have a few, but my laptop is dead at the moment and I'm using my phone. I should have skipped all the head, cam, intake, headers exhaust stuff and gone straight turbo from the get go. In 4th gear I can be on the waste gate around 2600 rpm or so. The biggest difference is no traction below 60 mph lol. I was driving around with my 4.11s for a month or so and that was quite rediculous, really happy to have the 3.50s in it now. These damn gear swaps really kick my *** though.

My girlfriend and I cruised to an amusement park over the weekend and I got 27 mpg

Boost = good

Some videos

This is from when I first got it running, really low timing, 4.11's, a shitty ls7 clutch and lots of spark blow out haha. Still a fun video

do you have a build thread on this ? What kind of money did you have into this turbo setup ? I think I want to go FI on my next build. It seems like a much easier way to make big power.

Awesome numbers. This is my exact motor(plus a built bottom end) setup minus the Fast 85, been looking for what the setup would make. How is the drivability? Is your transmission stock? You can PM me if u dont want to clutter up your thread.

Thanks

If I could do everything over again I would have went straight to the turbo stuff. Skipped headers, exhaust, underdrive, intake, cam, heads, 4.11's etc. Going from bolt on power (340 rwhp) to h/c/i (444rwhp) was a decent seat of the pants feel, even though I gained 115 hp / 75 ft lbs roughly you mostly felt the power up high and it got tame pretty quick. Now this feels like a huge seat of the pants difference, even down low 3000-4000 rpm it starts to put you back, by 5000 it's pulling harder, 6000 rpm it doesn't feel like it wants to stop.

Big thing with a N/A setup is the 1st couple gears throw you back decent, well with the turbo it just wants to pull harder and harder into the next gear. Kind of feels like it just wants to keep on going. I don't have a build thread but if you search some of my post in the forced inductions section you will see some things I built for my setup. I have about the same amount of money into my rear end setup that I have in this turbo stuff. But I buy alot of stuff used for decent prices and I have the ability to do a lot of my own work and help from friends who can weld.

My trans has billet slider keys, steel 3-4 shift fork and newer syncrhos. I rebuilt it when I bought my car as 4th gear was out.

Looks like a solid build man. Any plans to start building a motor soon?

I'm all about the budget builds so when it pops I will probably throw a 5.3 or 6.0 in it.

It's the way the camera picks up the brake lights, my stupid lights come on all the time when I shift or punch the throttle. I think I need to adjust the brake pedal sensor.
