Default edcmat-l1 tuning in China, dyno results

Welp, I just came back from China. I went over to oversee a 2011 GT500 being built, and to tune a bunch of cars. The GT500, a Vette, a bunch of CTS-Vs, and some GT-Rs. Here are a few of the results.

First the GT500. We installed a 4.0 Whipple, triple fuel pump return system, KOOKs LTs, bigger IC heat exchanger, RXT clutch, Baer brakes, Watts (sp?) link, some suspension components, and I think that's it.

08 C6, very mild built engine. Intentions were to boost it in the near future, so it's a low compression, smooth idle cammed engine.

Didn't get the graph, but it made 441 rwhp.

2010 GT-R with an exhaust system. We ran this car with the factory calibration, then 2 different levels of the Cobb canned tunes, and the canned tunes picked up roughly 10 rwhp. Then I spent a few hours dialing in the boost, and boost limit tables, and ended up making about 100 rwhp, and over 100 rw tq at under 3000. Didn't get the graph, but you can see it in the end of the video. In the vid, I hit the boost limit, and it went into fuel cut. You can hear it, and see it in the graph. Later, after a few more pulls, I got that ironed out. I was especially stoked with this car.

Finally, I tuned several CTS-Vs. I got a couple real short vids, but nothing worth posting. I did get a good graph of one though,

Graph.......

This was my second trip to China, and on my first trip, I really wanted to go see the Terra Cotta warriors. I didn't get the chance the first time, but I did this time. It was quite the experience.

Everyone is welcome to go flip through my photobucket albums. Both of the China albums are open. I also have several more videos on youtube, and even more to come.

You must be doing something right if you are flying to other countries to tune cars.

I remember you. You came in and took some pictures of one of the Harrops on the dyno. Hope your project is going well.

Very cool trip Ed - even if you did have to work a little.

Joan is still upset we missed the Terra Cotta Warriors when they toured through DC a few years ago. What an amazing discovery. It should be one of the Wonders of the World.

Plan on coming up this way and stay with us. I'll get the posse together for a BBQ.

BTW: A lot of people seem to miss the fact that you had a nice shop of your own for a lot of years prior to hooking up with VA Speed. For the record, I was a customer way back then.

Ed, what an awesome experience you've had in China! Janet and I hope to see many of the same sights within the next few years - especially the Terra Cotta Warriors. As Kevin said, "an amazing discovery"! I agree, lets get the gang together for a BBQ the next time you're in the neighborhood (Northern VA) - great idea.

I'm looking forward to working with you again on my Corvette projects! I have a new set of "Mamofied" AFR 215 heads, custom cam grind and a ported and polished GM LS2 90mm TB - all from Tony Mamo - coming in next month!! A loyal customer since 2006! Many of us go way back when you had your own shop before you joined VA Speed... the *BEST* LSx tuner around and customer service 2nd to none! Mike

I'll second that. Ed straightened out my 402/L92 combo in-between mods on Kevins car.

Best of luck with the new shop. Your the best.

Great stuff Ed! I know first hand how it is to learn to tune one series of cars. Then to learn F/I, N/A and nitrous.....way more complicated. Add other generations, brands, models, tuning software brands and models to the mix and you have yourself a full time job just learning the software, much less what the car wants and likes vs. what you can get away with. It's such a delicate balance. I have the utmost respect for tuners of your caliber!
There are very few on this planet and I feel lucky to know one.
