Default LS2 402ci #'s :UPDATED: tracvk times included

Well the final results are in. My setup is as follows. It's a LS2 402ci with Trickflow 215cnc heads opened up to 4" bore and has bigger intake valves(2.055 instead of 2.020). Ported Fast 90mm intake and a NW 90mm tb. The cam is a custom EPS cam for my setup 246/255-607/632@113+2LSA. The transmission is a th350 with a 8" 5000 stall converter that seems to be flashing to around 6000rpm's and a Strange 12bolt rearend. The car runs like a top now compaired to the way it ran before but the dyno #'s were low. Car only made 450rwhp and 395rwtorq. Can anyone point out why they think the car dynoed so low?

Now I do realize that this is just Dyno #'s but I will be taking the car to the track next week before I pull the converter out in favor of something with better street manners. I will get the graph Monday from Geoff and I will post it as soon as I get it.

I know why the #'s are low but can you figure it out without the Graph? And it has nothing to do with valve float. Just to rule that out..

Seems fine to me.. power robbing th350, large stall, heavy drivetrain..

its not the th350, a converter like that will make for a unhappy dyno number. take it to the track and see what it does. dyno numbers dont mean anything. i know a 800rwhp corvette that wont run 6.9s in the 1/8 and i know a 600rwhp car that runs 5.9s.

I believe this is correct. Geoff said that when he would floor it the car would flash straight to 6000rpm, haze the tire then he would shut it down @6800rpm. What do you guys think about me swapping out the high stall for something around a 3600rpm or 4000rpm. Something that would use the power band a little better. With these heads the car should have a boat load of low end torque.

I guess what I'll do is call Kenny at PTC and go over the dyno sheet with him. With this high of a stall we are unsure wheir the car is making peak torque..

I would have to say the converter as well, our setups are almost identical except for the trans and converter.

"with a 8" 5000 stall converter"

No question about it. That converter will not do well on a chasis dyno as has been pointed out. You are just going to have to take it to the track and see what she does.

I have a 4000 stall in my car but when I put it on the dyno I install a factory torque converter so that I can tune the areas that will be missed by the flashing of the higher stall torque converter.

I would be happy with those results, that car is gunna run hard.

My 383 with TFS heads, Fast intake huge cam made low 400's through a t400 and a 5k stall, s60.

I just recently swapped in a T56 magnum and the car made 490/450 to the tire.

Honestly, my car felt faster with the big auto, but I got tired of driving it on the street like that.

Was considering doing this myself.. How much did the whole thing cost you? I am getting away from the street racing scene in favor of just cruising around and a little track fun.. I can care less what she does at the track as long as she runs close to where she suppost to.. Anyone else have trouble slinging belts with the stock tensioner? I ordered a Katech adjustable belt tensioner.

What did it run with the auto?

That's one of the dumbest things I've heard around here in awhile.

Went to the track last night and made a few passes. I have a few kinks to work out with the converter being to loose but I was able to run a 10.39@129mph with a 1.414 60 ft. 6.602@103.57mph
What you guys think? This was the first passes with this new setup.

129 MPH is strong, to go that close to 130 I believe you'd need around 525+ rwhp with a stick, so you're doing pretty good

Forget the dyno, it runs right

Yep very strong for your first runs. I bet with more track time you knock .2-.3 tenths off that. Someone else asked also.... whats your raceweight?

Congrats!

original poster.... two things i would do is,

1. calculate converter slip with a calculator
2. review a log to see the rpm drop on the shifts

without doing the those two steps, you have no idea if the converter is too loose or not. dont guess at it, calculate it and get data, then make a decision.

ps...dynos are for people that never go to the track, dyno numbers mean nothing.
