Default Proflo intake results on a 383

Engine:
383 LS1 11.5 compression, .040" quench
TFS 215's with PRC .675 springs shimmed up and Jesel rockers
Pat G 238/246 cam
Proflo intake unported with Victor 90mm throttle that has been cleaned up
NOS direct port (not used for dyno)

Drivetrain:
TH400 with RMVB, T-Brake, and 3600 Hughes stall
Sphon Top Gun driveshaft
Strange S60 with 3.73 gear
M/T ET Street Radial Pro's

For people who say that the Proflo XT loses alot of low end, that is clearly not the case. It is a viable option over the expensive FAST if you do not mind losing your wipers and cutting the cowl.

Looks good. Would love to see some king of comparision. The torque spike is the converter flashing so it's hard to compare to anything.

Wish I would of had the car straight with the FAST on to compare it too before i swapped. Had valve float back then from the TFS stock springs.

Definitely not what I expected. I had planned for a 6300-6500 peak and shift at 7k max. Only has LS7 lifters in it so I don't want to turn it higher than 7200.

did you pull it more then 7, to see how it dose?

what are you running for a airfilter setup? I think I lid like this would work good for that intake

No didn't make a pull higher than 7k but will try shifting at the track at 7k first then 7,200 to see if there is any difference in ET. Gonna make some passes this Sunday.

Not running a lid. Custom 4" CAI setup with a 9" K&N cone over into the hole where the coolant overflow/batt. used to be. Speed Density so no MAF.

Love the top end power these intakes have. Kind of a middle man from a plastic and a single plane!

Ran 11.29@120 shifting at 7k, 11.19@121 at 7200, then 11.1@123 at 7400 which is the highest I felt comfortable with.

Wish I could of launched higher than 3k on my 11.1@123 run. Had issues with the t-brake. Only got a 1.76 60' on that run. Best of the day was 1.56 leaving at 3600. Turned the 2-step up to 4k then it wouldn't get above 3k somehow. Double checked I had it set right.

Might make one more track trip on motor then I will pour on the 250 or 300rwhp hit.

well, the trap speeds seem to indicate that you were gaining about 10 rwhp per 200 rpm, so it seems to like the extra RPM

Glad to see you were willing to cut your car up to share the results

Thats awesome!!! RPM is where its at if the intake flows well and in this case it appears to be working awesome. Congrats.

Nice results! Im running a pro flo on my 6.0 right now. Currently have a 226/234 cam and power peaks at 6700, thinking about stepping up to a 234/246 to take advantage of this intake in the upper rpms. what do think?

Anything in the low 230's should be good and on a 6.0 produce similar results rpm wise as mine.

The reason it didn't peak at 6300-6500 is because your IVC event is not allowing it. You would need a different cam with that intake manifold to peak at a lower RPM.

I wouldn't even worry about it and let it ride out at 7400-7500rpm. I turned my stock LS1 lifters to 7400rpm a LOT! Let it eat! Nice results too! I feel like James in that these intakes are a great middle man between a plastic stock style intake and a single plane. The runner length is just short enough that it allows a 7000rpm+ horsepower peak while not losing a ton of low end/mid-range up to 5000rpm like the single plane intakes tend to do.

About the only way I've found to make torque as strong as a fast intake with a single plane is a LOT of overlap, and that just kills any drivabilty that there would of been. That said, these pro-flo's need overlap as well to make a strong torque curve, but not quite as much as a single plane would with it's shorter intake runner.

No runs on nitrous yet. Need the roll cage in before that happens.

Upped timing from 18 to 26 degrees after I got the AFR constant 12.7. Reason it didn't get a full tune on the dyno was because we ran out of time after diagnosing bad coils. They had 132k miles on them. Now running truck coils.

Ran a few weeks ago in 90 degree weather at 2,350ft DA
Results

1.60 60ft
7.0 @99mph 1/8th
11.0 @123mph 1/4

Hoping when it cools off to the 60's around here in the fall and with a sub 1,000ft DA (I live on the coast) I can pull off a 10 second time on motor.
