Angry Puzzled by low Dyno numbers...

Puzzled by low Dyno numbers...-imag1158.jpg

Hey hows it going guys?
well i finally took my 2000 Trans Am to the dyno today and It put down very low numbers... My car is a A4 with 2.73 gears...
My mods are Hooker super comp headers, asp underdrive pulley, TSP ORY, LS6 valley cover and a SLP lid... Im still on a stock LS1 intake, 853 heads and stock cam and tune... I took it to Bandimere Speedway a couple of weekends ago and only managed a 14.8 at 99mph it was at a 6500 DA...
What gives?? I see most LS1 fbodys dyno at around 300RWHP could the altitude here in cheyenne be killing that much power? we are at 6900 FT altitude... ill have a video up later on.

Your ET/MPH is right on... That is a solid mid 13 @ 107mph or so pass.

Not sure on the dyno. The ET/mph lets you know you are making the power and running the times you should be though.

Go turbo.

The dyno has nothing to do with how well the car is tuned.

The dyno sheet says "Heart Break Dyno". Sounds right.
Why is the engine rpm at the bottom in show 3.xx the entire run?

Umm 6900ft altitude? Yeah that will do it for ya.

No way in hell he's making low 300s at the wheels with those mods and close to 7000ft above sea level...

Hey Kyle what's up man!? Glad to see those headers gettin put to good use Sorry to hear about the low numbers man, no doubt the altitude has a lot to do with it, and possibly that dyno wasn't reading right. Try running it on another dyno and seeing if there's a huge difference or not.

You planning on doing the T56 swap yourself? If so, let me know if you run into any issues. Been down that road myself and I love my T56!

Dyno should be corrected for da shouldn't it? My guess is dyno is just plain stupid. His 1/4 mile corrects to 13.59 at 107mph so sounds about right for a stock stall auto that's not full bolt on

That oil smoke after the pulls would concern me. I bet the rings are on their way out. Do a compression and leakdown test asap.

Hey hows it going man! Yea the headers work great! lol yea the low dyno numbers were a little disappointing and i think the dyno was off quite a bit...
this same dyno a few runs later said that a bolt on 2001 mustang gt put out 509TQ at the rear wheels... :/ lol so i will take the car to get the baseline dyno at a quality dyno before i swap in the s60 and t56... yea i am planning on swapping in the rear and t56 myself and i cant wait! lol did your throttle response improve quite a bit and your topend???

yea I knew i wouldn't be in the 13's running at bandimere because of the DA. so
i was pretty happy with a baseline run at 14.8 @99mph. lol Im saving up the final pennies for the s60 from carl @crp.

I did a compression test and leakdown test not to long ago because i was thinking the same thing... But the car passed with flying colors... But come to find out LS engines tend to burn a little oil when you let off of the throttle at a high rpm (sucking oil through the pcv) because the throttle blade being closed and creating such a high vacuum in the intake manifold... I would be worried if my motor burned oil during everyday driving, but it doesn't burn a drop.

The swap is a job, but it's rewarding when you get done. I can't comment on throttle response and topend improvement for your scenario--I'm still rolling with the stock 10 bolt and 3.23s Lowend is terrible right now because of the change in first gear ratio from the 4L60E to the T56. It'll pick up here soon as I have a 12 bolt with 4.10s waiting to go in.
