LS3 tune in LS1 pcm?

LS3 tune in LS1 pcm? So I'm nearing the end of my swap. Its just a stock ls3 motor with bolt ons going into an fbody. I just need to break the motor in, so a couple spirited runs, and then of course a trip to the dyno. I was going to use a stock ls3 tune from a camaro/vette but I was wondering if all the tables will translate over from the newer pcm? I know the injector data has to be converted to go from ls1 injectors so I was wondering if the ve tables etc require the same thing? Or can I simply copy the ve tables and whatever else I need o the ls1 pcm.

dammit I just realized i put this in the wrong section lol if someone could move it that would be awesome. it is a 58x reluctor with the lingefelter box. however that really wont make a difference when it comes to tuning
Some of the tables have different axis or different row/column header values where you need to interpolate the values. The VE tables are very different. Are you using LS3 injectors or another injector with known good calibration data? When I switched from the LS1 to the LS3, the only tables I moved in were the calibrated LS3 injector tables, everything else was re-tuned.

Maybe, but it does let us know what ECM you can use. Sounds like you can go either way depending on some other factors.

Sorry I just assumed that since I had an fbody it would be known I was using that pcm lol and ya I used ls3 injectors on my old build so I'm just using that. What I'm leaning towards doing is flashing in my old bolt on tune from my ls1 way back when and just entering in the maf data for my 100mm maf from tsp. then let the tuner take care of it since i dont have time to do the tuning.
anyone think there will be issues breaking in the motor on a stock ls1 ve table? obviously not going to beat on it but i will bring rpms up to do the break in

I would Just pay a tuner to send you a email tune for it. That should get you 95% close if not better on a stock motor.
Hell LSx power tuning had my tune about 90% close on a H/C/I setup. I just had to tweak the VE and make some simple idle adjustments.

Verdad Gallardo When you say it's running lean, how lean are you talking? Above 15? You don't want it to be too rich on a fresh motor and kill the ring seal right away. I'd personally feel more comfortable with it running a little lean vs a little rich and just keep the RPM's down on the trip to the tuner.
If you already have the LS3 injector data massaged for the LS1 tables, just set the calibration to MAF-only, then calibrate the MAF curve up through say 4-5kHz around town. Then have the tuner re-enable SD during his calibration.

I would think it would run fine on your old tune redbird for break in. May take a little drivability tuning. Just scale your injectors and ride. Then once broke in get her dyno tuned.

For anyone reading this I ended up just using a stock ls1 tune and adding my maf tables into it from my old setup. Its def running rich but how much I have no idea. Taking it to formato for a full tune this week hopefully, he sent me a trail SD tune but the car didnt like it at all. It runs fine on the ls1 tune but you can tell its just not right.
