I guess l will try next is a TBSS intake with bigger injectors with long tube headers. The car is on it's way here to Anchorage so l guess l will have to find a tuner up here. Hope it's cheaper than that crappy houston house of power. What a miatake to go there.

Truck intake is choking the hell out of that thing. With some changes and tuning you should easily do 440+ even through a auto. A m6 should be 470 or more with that basic engine combo imo.

I'm new to this so any advice would be appreciated. Is there a good intake to use that can be mounted without having to change the water pump and pulley system from the LQ4 setup?
#45
The engine only had 30k on it when we tore it down and put all the fun stuff on it. Put new oil pump anyway to be sure. What about injectors, does that come with that intake?

I had a very similar issue with my 6.0L powered Bird. Here is a link to my thread:

What rpm's are you hp and tq peaks occurring at?
My car is running a throttle body injection (msd atomic) with a carb style intake. I ended up running a best of 352 hp @ 5450 rpm 390 lb/ft @ 4050 rpm with a dual plane performer rpm intake and a 222/224 cam.
I have since changed to the same TSP 228/232 112 cam you are running and a single plane holley carb intake and made 382 hp @ 6200 and 364 tq @ 4900
I am still running stock 799 heads. The peaks now seem to be happening a lot closer to where they should be mostly because of the intake swap.

My torque of 360 peaks at 4110 and my hp of 329 peaks at 5500. I think like l was told that the truck intake l'm running is choking the engine as l have ported 243 heads with titanium valves. Apparently my shorty headers need to go too. The car will arrive on the 25th in Anchorage and then l can start doing something to it.

Now. To put your tq in perspective here. It's low....way low. My bolt on ls6 made 423wtq. At this point a set of stock 243s and a stock ls6 cam would gain you significant power if your h/c is the issue. The fact that you lost 26tq witch a bigger cam shows something is going in the wrong direction. Now i am assuming you gained 800rpm of usable power range....but that falls short to the tq loss imo.

Not really....i was only saying what i had. That shows the comparison. Of which the heads are very similar design if not identical. Which means something really far off. A 6.0 should have more tq.

Well I appreciate the advice, but I was not really concerned with the number itself but where the peaks were occurring in the rpm range. Its a little hard to compare dyno numbers from different dyno's ran under different conditions.
#58
Well all dynos correct for atmospheric conditions. So that's not really a issue unless the data is wrong. Unless it's a mustang dyno or dyno dynamic they gonna read pretty damn close.
Go to the track and measure the performance of it. If it confirms your dyno then you know something is way off.

I have the original LQ4 intake stuffed underneath the hood of the Firebird. Does anyone know if the TBSS intake is about the same height? I see there is one on marketplace that I can buy for cheap. Need answers ASAP!
