Default 1999 t/a 434

1999 T/A 6-speed 3.90 9" Trutrac
434 Warhawk block. Melling oil pump Cloyes C5R chain.
4.155 CP Pistons, 12:1 Eagle crank and rods. ATI balancer
GM LS7 casting TSP CNC ported. Stainless exhaust valve
Cam Motion LLSR 24X/26X .690 113 and solid lifters.
Tsp LS7 adjustable roller rockers
ARH 1 7/8 " headers into Speed Engineering x-pipe duals out the rear
Mamo ported MSD and 102 NW throttle body. FTP 104 lid
Meziere water pump
GZ sportsman vacuum pump
Summit twin disc clutch
Holley valve covers with updated coils (made a noticeable difference).
Lots of fun!!!!

Nice! You mentioned the coils made a noticeable difference. Can you elaborate on this?

In my case, the car was started with the stock ls1 coils and ran fine.
I had the LSX valve covers with no coil mount and I was tired of relocating them. Nothing seemed good to me.
So I bought the holley covers that take the newer coil. At start up it was smoother and more responsive.
Were the old coils not up to the task anymore? Who knows. From my experience the coils made a difference at start up and low end throttle response.

Great results! which coils did you switch to? Does it require a retune?

Coils typically won't need a retune. The D585 are the easy upgrade with factory reliability. LS ignition systems have never been a big source of problems but coils do get old and you still see a bad one occasionally.

Bad *** build, that HAS to be a fun ride! Well done!

If the harness is similar to this one:

LS Coil Power Upgrade Harness
then that would account for the SOTP improvement. I put that on my LS6 Cts-V with no other changes and it ran noticeably better immediately.

Nothing weight wise has been removed. Has a roll bar and the 9" rear, so it is probably heavier.

Nice build! Funny how people were saying upgrading coils is a waste of money.
