Thumbs up MTI Comp Stealth II cam Stage I trans and retune

I got MTI/Century Transmission Stage I trans rebuild to handle the extra
power the car makes. Some of you may know I had issues with the original Stealth cam (the car would idle very poorly). I installed the new Comp Cam grind Stealth II cam and also had MTI retune the car (the tuned it free of charge since I had a bad cam). After the new trans was in and dynatech metal matrix cats were installed, MTI dyno tuned the car. The dyno tune was done at MTI's shop in Houston. Temperature was 92.6 and barometer reading was 29.92 inches. They got 412 RWHP and 389 RWTQ with a locked converter. 393 RWHP and 383 RWTQ with an unlocked SS3600 converter and 3.42 gears. Boy car runs dang good. Occasionally breaks the tires loose on a 2nd gear roll on pull. Easily breaks the tires loose in 1st. Kind of sucks not having traction. But kudos to Dave Coates, Wayne, Rick and Jason at MTI. Trans shifts very nicely. Should have done the trans upgrade a long time ago. Just so much more driveable and no more slop. Car running great. Ordered some wheels for my BFG drag radials but I don't think the BFG drag radials will be enough. I will have some track times soon. BTW the car is getting 26 MPG again on the hwy...up from 18 with the old bad cam grind. Smooth idle at last!

I have that cam too. I noticed that on start up when its cold it idels different.
It sort of sounds as if the cam resets itself at the end of the fireing order. I have a lunati ground cam. Does anyone know if all lunati ground cams were ground wrong? I never got a email from mti. My tune is from tsp and is mail order. The car runs great i really like this cam. It just makes me wonder if that little reset is a incorectly grouind cam?

Nah.... I say if your car's running great, and you like it, why mess with it anymore. Falls under the old addage of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

To the poster...... Congrats!!

Those are fantastic number's, especially if it's a Cam/bolton car only. This is a vette right? Z06? Stealth II cam is making some great power..

Maybe when you take it back there, ask them work the reverse direction for tuning progression. If you approach the error from the other direction that will produce different results that before.

Very nice as that's the cam I want to go with. What other mods do you have? Can you post the dyno?

Just trying to line up everything I need
Thanks

That's a good result for an A4 even with heads. A locked A4 is still down about 3% compared to a M6, so 420+ RWHP is excellent from a small cam.

I am running LG long tubes with dynatech metal matrix cats. Unported LS6 heads, Jesel SS 1.72 rockers, Crane dual springs and Titanium retainers with MTI hardened push rods, LS6 intake and LS6 pcv, Z06 Titanium exhaust, Stealth II cam (comp cams grind) 3.42 gears, Yank SS3600 converter, MTI/Century Transmission Stage I A4, MTI air bridge, VaraRam induction and underdrive pulleys and an MTI dyno tune. Seems to be a nice combo.

HOLY CRAP DUUUUUDDEEE!!! I am buying that cam this weekend, I've been looking at different cams, my WS6 had a MUCH larger cam. But I love the way my Z06 drives and the power comes on. So if I can get a Stealth II cam to retain some of that and get 410-415rwhp 395rwhp torque without taking off my heads I'm there!!!

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have a way to post or email the dyno graph???

Well, I dunno about all the Stealth (LUNATI) grinds being off, but from the batch we got there was plenty inconsistencies from lobe to lobe, (besides being ground with 4* advance.

My new cam card says 224/220, .581/.581 116+0 just the way it is supposed to be. BTW it has a ramp rate of 49= XE-R

I got 404rwhp/383rwtq with most bolt ons and 241 stock heads,A4.

Wow!! This cam was gonna be a downgrade mod from my Trex in the future, but it just might not be a downgrade!! I would like to see some M6 numbers as well.
