Highest HP AFR 205 car to date...
How about 535 RWHP with 482 Ft/lbs....insane #'s even taking into account the lightweight road race style clutch set-up which obviously killed his 60 foot times and ability to put up a 9 second ET slip...
BUT...how about 140.3 MPH crossing the traps!!!

I run 11.8:1 on 93 octane all year long with no problems...
Damn, Man that Vette is smoken!
I have a 03 Zo6, With H/C With Zo6 Heads on it.. All motor with all stock bottom-end. 473Rwhp 430Rwtq From a 346Cid
I believe from the link posted they were only spinning to low to mid 7000's in rpm range. Its still a hyd cam.
VERY impressive. A set of AFR 225s with a sold roller setup may be in my future.
These heads were out of the box AFR 205's....red labeled to Wylie Texas to try and give Lou enough time to get the head swap done in time for the event.
The engine made peak HP at 67-6800 and if I recall was still producing 500 RWHP as high as 7500. The torque is especially brutal for such a small displacement engine. Those kind of torque numbers would convert to approximately 550 ft/lbs. on an engine dyno.
By the way, I certainly never portrayed this build-up as a "street" engine by any means....I brought it to everyone's attention purely to feature what is possible and quite frankly the results are still impressive all things considered, BUT....the bottom line is that this is still a normally aspirated 346 with a hydraulic roller cam. You COULD actually put it in a very aggresive week-end warrior style vehicle without a problem....except for scaring the neighbors when you fired it up to drive it around the block.
One thing is for sure, this build-up certainly exploits and taps into the well of power available from our street friendly 205's....They are "the little heads that could" and AFR couldn't have been happier with the recent results posted from Lou's car. Could it be there is more to making power than large ports with big "advertised" peak flow numbers???...Naaaaaaah....thats just an unfounded rumor

Massive cam, lots of timing, drag car, lots of compression, little weight, yet I'm still flabbergasted that it trapped 140mph!!
Just curious, do you know how much timing the car was running on?
You guys put together a solid race car!
It uses nothing more than off the shelf parts with a good tune and a cam that is well matched to the heads. It is still a hydraulic roller utilizing a Comp 875-16 roller lifter.
I can list all the parts in the world for people to copy but there is more than just the parts. Its the attention to detail. It is the extra time on the dyno we spent tuning and changing the cam timing ON THE DYNO the 2 nights before at 2 AM. Nothing about this setup was "good enough" We didnt want to go 130, we wanted to go 135. The highest MPH for any 6 speed 346 car. We sure did that to say the least.
AFR Box stock heads
Comp Stock replacement pushrods
FAST 90 mil, untouched
LG Custom Hyd. roller cam 610 max lift.
12:1 CR
We were turning 73-7500 all day on the 921 springs.
I will try to get a graph up soon.
