Default Finnaly got numbers on the 383! *UPDATED!*

After two months or so of waiting, finnaly got the new set-up on the dyno!

Mods include (also in sig) an Eagle 383 stroker kit (Eagle crank/rods, JE pistons) TSP/Patriot 5.3l stage 3 'race' heads (which I think only flow like 305 or so at .600)
240/244 .608/.612 112lsa cam
TSP lid
ASP Pulley
QTP 1 7/8" headers

all assembled and tuned by myself. After only 20 min or so on the dyno, I put down 478rwhp and 446rwtq! The A/F is pretty close to a 13:0. I can smooth it out quite a bit, and plan on adding a little fuel down low to help with the torque. The torque curve (or line I should say) doesnt really get going until 3,500rpm so....need to work on that a little. I think with a few more tweaks and adjustments, I could see the car get into the 480's. I plan on getting AFR 225 heads and a 90mm intake set-up soon....I'm anxious to see what that does but, for the heads I have, and stock LS6 intake, I don't think thats too shabby. Its a start

I don't have the graph scanned yet, but will try to get one up soon!

-Sean

*Edit, after a few minor adjustments, new numbers as of tonight are 494rwhp/460rwtq! (see pg. 2)

12:1 (8.7 DCR) No knock either on 93 pump gas. Total timing was 27* but didnt take much time to test and see what it liked best, but I'm betting about 26-28*

sweet, gives me hope for my 12.02 SCR / 8.5 DRC w/ 91, well see how that goes. you've also got a bit more power to be had with a ported TB.

It can be done...My very first pull, I was running just over 14:1 A/F with no knock, but was also running pretty low timing, between 20-22. It was also a cool night weather wise, 64* but...will be intresting to see how she holds up in the summer. Luckily though, she wont be much of a daily driver this year

I am intrested to see what can be gained by opening up the intake. I think that, then the heads, are my big restrictions right now (more so the intake stuff, heads might be ok, for the meantime) I've seen you mention it, but don't think I've heard details on your set up???

Cool man, glad to see it made some good power! What RPM did the torque peak and hp peak occur at?

Awesome numbers Sean. And Jerami, that setup looks like its going to make some serious power. Look forward to seeing the results.

Awesome numbers with those heads...they are your restriction after the intake..not sure if you will make 500rwhp without getting rid of them

Your car made almost identical numbers to mine...im a little less compression and lift but with 90mm.

Thanks guys!

Gomer, I'm making 400rwtq at 3,500 and peaks at 4,800 (and still over 400 at 6,000)

I'd have to agree, leave the heads alone.
Run the LSX/90 and port match it to your 5.3's and then retune it.......

IMO 500rw shouldnt be a problem
Very impressive setup...

Thanks! I'm still undecided where I want to go from here. I'm kinda thinking about a new cam....I usually swap those out once every month or two anyway :p but I think the intake is definatley pretty close to next on my list. I figure thats probably my biggest restriction. I'm running a MAFless tune so I can ditch the MAF, try to find something to do for a smooth bellow to replace it, a 90mm intake and TB

What are the specs on your motor? I'm going to try to pick up an intake soon, hopefully that will do it. I'm also past due for a cam changes, but I don't know how much, if any, I would benefit from that (I usually get bored and swap cams every couple months or so :p )
