Default Before and after dyno on 385 ci motor with TEA heads FMS cam

A little back ground. Old motor combo was an ARE package that I got some time ago. ARE built 385 ci iron block with ARE LS1 heads with 2.055 intake and 1.60 ex valves. Approx 11.5 to 1 compression, hydraulic 236/242 comp cam, LS6 intake, Hooker headers, custom exhaust.

New setup was the SAME 385 ci shortblock, TEA stage 3 LS6 heads, custom FMS solid cam, Kooks custom headers, FAST 90/90, Same compression, 93 octane.

The fist dyno shows two graphs. The high HP one was a custom intake that peaked more HP bust killed Tq. So dont look at that one...it was an experiment. The other dyno that shows 425 rwhp was with the LS6 intake. Thats what I ran on the car.

The second dyno graph shows the dyno after the new topend. It im not sure which dyno run this was...I just grabbed a few and this was the best one I found. It did make 522 on one pull. It still has tuning to do and needs the FAST ported. But basically I gained roughly 100 hp. with the new TEA heads and solid roller setup from Futral. I think there is another easy 10+ more rwhp there as well.

I used to run 11.4 at 122 or so with the old combo NA. I have not been to the track with the new combo but the way it pulls I am expecting 133-135 mph. The car is also lighter now with suspension etc.

I am still making some changes right now so it will be some time before everything is ready. I just wanted to post a before and after with the new TEA and FMS products.

old dyno

new dyno...not sure why the dynojet program cut off the run...but it made over 500 rwhp all the way to 7400 rpm

I wont be getting any spray #s with the 385. It didnt like the high rpm and spun a rod bearing. It may have been due to a few things. Possible oil problem with the way the stock crank was offset ground....or an oiling issue with the new comp solid roller liftersbleeding off too much oil...or a combo of both. Either way..the iron block that is 4.060 that has been with me for a while is going to HPE for Eric Koenig to do up with a 4" crank and some real nitrous pistons and a few other things so I dont have this issue again. Compression will be 12.2 to from what I can see. DIamond is providing the pistons and they have said a 10 day turnaround. Hopefully by the end of the month I will have the shortblock back to slap it back in and see what 414 ci will do with 12.2 to 1 compression and a properly assembled shortblock. Hell..I may need a bigger cam

Ehhh...shouldnt take too long. I will have it shipped out monday.

Well...I was just looking at the Comp lifters. It has two large oiling holes VS the stock hydraulic lifters single oil hole. ALOT of oil would be going through there. According to some...one of those oil passages needs to be blocked off for the comp lifters to provide the proper ratio of oil from bottom to top of motor.

Or...just use the Morels. I will talk to Erik at HPE and do what he suggests.

My 383 wouldnt make anymore HP than 435 HP, i installed a QuickTime electric cutout, it made 460/460, and made 465/473 1 pull. Don't know if that might help u pull alittle more out of it, but thats what held me back.
