Good to see you have no major oiling issues!
Tick Performance here in Mount Airy, NC did an excellent job of installing the rod bolts with the engine still in the car.

Without nitrous, the car makes peak HP ~6500RPM. I shift ~6900RPM usually.

Also id def invest in a ported ls6 oil pump as the 98's are pretty bad and that should help with the oiling issue. Joey at what RPM did your MS3 see peak HP?
Stock block, stock oil pump, and the rod bolts (ARP) were changed with the motor in the car. This motor has been raced sence 98 with no oiling issues what so ever. My car only made 372 rwhp with a mild cam and bolt on's. Walbro 255 with hot wire, ported ls6 oil pump, forged 382 stroker, and a 225 shot next time out - early April. Should be good for over 625 rwhp.

Wow you got a damn good 98 there! Even with only 26K miles on my camaro my oil presure gauge would fluctuate all over the place and when I brought it to the dealer they replaced the oil pump but 15K miles later it started fluctuating again. Once I had my cam installed I had Dez Racing toss in a ported ls6 oil pump and the issue was gone. Im not sure if I got a couple of faulty pumps, if they didnt install the o-ring correctly, etc but my gauge would dip and bob up and down at idle up until I got the LS6 oil pump. Quick question though, is it the block/pump/? design that causes the oiling issue?

I have full bolt ons except for a tb and my car made 374 rwhp on stock 98 heads. my cam is a 230/224 cam so its not the biggest cam but i was told when it was being installed that the car wouldnt put down a very high number because it was a 98, glad to see some guys out there are able to reach that 400hp mark with a 98.

I think this is the wrong post to ask that. I believe the 2000's had the 241 heads and the 98's had the 892's or something like that. They don't flow as good.

Torquer v2 or v3, G5x2, G5x3, MS3, etc with some pacetters/ory/cutout, ls6 intake, ported TB, underdrive pulley, tune should get you there.

According the the poll, the people who have made 400rwhp cam only with a 98 is about 50/50. So it is possible to make 400rwhp with a 98 stock head/ cam only.

This is accounting for the select few - who choose to vote and didn't even have a 98 car...

Anyways, keep them coming guys, this thread could be very helpful to other owners wondering the same thing.

I would still like to see some SOLID proof that the `98 806 heads are inferior vs 853/241's ?
Not to High jack your thread bud but this is a valid point. If there are guys making that much power with `98 stock heads then they can't be that bad.

Another thought is that Peak Dyno numbers don't tell the whole story. Power under the curve is what you want. A car with more power throughout the rev range can be faster than a car with a bigger numbers at the top end.

The short story is the more powerful car is not always the fastest.

I've never read that much into Dyno numbers anyway, they are tools for tuning but unfortunately too many people use them as bragging rights.
