My buddy's car just dyno'd 518hp the other day, how are these results for the combo?

LME 408
Not sure which factory heads, but they're ported
Edelbrock vic jr intake with elbow and Accufab TB
Hyd Roller 250'ish .650'ish
around 12:1 CR
Kooks Race headers
TH400
9''

What would approx flywheel HP be? How much drive train loss do you think he's losing?

Converter is a 3800~, not sure on brand

Those are damn good numbers for an auto...Was the pull done the the verter locked?..Typically there is about a 15% drivetrain loss...Its hard to say, but with the 9'' and the tranny it might be a little higher in your case...He should be right around 600FWP give or take...Congrats for your buddy...

Will someone please explain how his dyno numbers aren't impossible!!! I have a bunch of Nay-sayers on a Pontiac forum that say "there is no way the car will run 10's on ls1 heads, and ported ls1 heads won't yield more than 450 RWHP"

If you put that much power down through a TH400 and a 9" there is no reason why that thing won't run mid 10's or better, depending on how much it weighs. TH400's usually eat power, but run better at the track than what the dyno indicates.

You can't put down 450 with ported 241s? I make 432 with bone stock heads through a 9'' and a twin disc clutch. Before I got this car, with a 10 bolt and a single disc clutch, it made 466 with the smae untouched stock heads. You can go ahead and raise the BS flag on the "ported ls1 heads won't yield more than 450 rwhp."

Anyways, my buddy was pretty happy with the results....

I kinda thought it'd dyno closer to 550...but the cam I guess is a nitrous cam, so I don't know....518 is still really well though

Speed Inc did a great job even though they had to "rough it"
