Default How much hp can i get out of my 383 ls1

Hey im new to this hole thing and i am building a 383 ls1. It has dart 225 heads, ls6 intake, 90mm tb, a 238- 242 at 114 at 605-615 lift cam, kooks 1 7/8 headers, and i was hoping it would make good power n/a. If any one would have any idea i would appreciate it. thanks Darrin

It should make good power, I dont know if you bought the Dart heads, if you did stick with them if you havent, look in to something from TFS (Trick Flow Speciality)

The darts make power too. its just the right combo to work together though. I have a freind with a 383 with the dart 225 heads that have been massaged for a little more flow and with 11.3 / 1 compression and a 239/243 cam close to yours laid down 425 hp through a unlocked 4400 stall in a th350. car runs 10.9's at the track and traps 124 mph in sea level DA

You would have a better running car with a smaller head. 225 anything is overkill on a motor with 3.90 bore. An afr 205 or a well ported LS6 casting would be perfect for this application and it would make better power numbers. A 90mm tb will not fit an LS6 intake, it is fact. Just take your time and RESEARCH. Just remember peak numbers dont mean ****, area under the curve is where its at. Good Luck

I don't think people are ever going to agree on whether a 225 head will make more power than a 215 or 205 head on a 3.9 bore. I had ETP 225s and switched to TFS 215s. I did not pick up any power over my 346 setup despite adding a bigger cam. My car is running 10.2s @ 130 on the motor at 3320 lbs in positive DA. However, it probably would have done that with my 346 setup if I had ever had the chance to make a pass. We'll never know though. For now I'm just trying to figure out why the extra displacement didn't give me any more power...anywhere. In fact, with the same cam I actually lost 15 to 20 rwhp...everywhere.

I've tuned a few to 500 rwhp. One to 510 with AFR 205s. Its all in the combo, and the tune.
