Question rwhp questions?

I know this varies but if my car dynoed 327rwhp 343rwtq with just a lid and cutout what would that be flywheel? and I now have long tube headers,3" true dual x pipe with 3" bullet race mufflers and a Yank 4200 stall it's not tuned for the new mods just yet but what would you guys guess at RWHP/RWTQ with the new mods and what would be the flywheel guess on them? I will get it dynoed once I get the TUNE but kind of would like to hear what you guys will guess at how actually close you are and what they translate flywheel, just for the hell of it!

Why?
You cant race your flywheel down the track?
Not to mention that converter is slipping off some 'power' which make coming up with a flywheel number nothing short of a guess...

327 to the wheel's would put you around 395 to 400 at the crank.. torque not sure, It all depend's on the tune and the person doing it.

The following polynomial approximates the drivetrain loss as a function of speed in MPH, which was measured as negative horsepower on the DynoJet chassis dyno. This expression is valid from 0 to 130 mph:

Drivetrain loss, hp = 4.874 *10-2 * MPH + 3.517 *10-4 *MPH2

Sorry, I couldn't resist..

Normal assumption for RWD Camaro-F body Auto is ~18% loss of engine HP to RWHP. So..327HP/(100-82) = ~400HP. If nothing else changed TQ= ~418TQ. Probably missing some assumption in that TQ calculation, seems a little unrealistic.

Basically count on flywheel HP 395-400, (as the previous poster stated) based on a pure mathematical model.

Hope that helps..WeathermanShawn..

Correction..Thats 327/(100-18)..or 327/82. Still=~400RWHP..
(It's getting late)..WeathermanShawn..

I thought 15% loss was the most you would see. But I'm no expert. With 15% you would be closer to 376rwhp.

Heard anywhere from 15% parasitic HP loss through manual, 18-20% auto transmission.

If I get the concept orrectly, it's the drivetrain loss (15-18%) from flywheel. I.E. to figure it that way, you take his 327HP..divide it by .85 (15% loss)..

Using 15% loss from flywheel, I'm coming up with 384HP..

Agreed, either way its pretty much just a convenient way to market (inflate) HP.

Thats my understanding of how you calculate it..WeathermanShawn..
