Default VRX3.. Small Cam/BIG Power!!! Cam Only Results Inside

Our lil VRX3 never ceases to amaze me!!! We had a customer come in this week with a stock 02 Z28. He is a college guy and daily drives his Z. He wanted a cam only application that would produce over 400rwhp. We decided the VRX3/supporting bolt ons would suit his needs best.

Modifications Include

VRX3 Camshaft/928 springs/7.400 Hardened Pushrods
Whisper Air Lid
Stock MAF (Descreened)
BlueMaxx 90mm TB
FAST 92mm Intake (Ported by Vengeance)
ASP Pulley
Kooks Stainless 1 3/4 Longtubes w 3" Catted Y Pipe
GMMG Chambered Exhaust
Textralia Z700 Clutch Kit
Stock GM 10 Bolt w/ 3:73s

Results are Below:

That's a nice looking graph. I am making my peak power at 6500 rpm with a stock LS6 long block, but the VRX3 looks like it drops off at 6100. I would like to keep max power at the same RPM with an aftermarket cam like the VRX3 since my gearing is set up for this. How can I do this?

3.73's !?

Sounds like a Automatic, correct??

Also why the 928's over the 918's (redesigned)

Thanks

The car is a M6. Why would you get a ported fast over a set of heads?

Looks like its a manual since he has a text 0z700 clutch...
Try asking Ron if they do the same cam, but have it ground straight up with no advance in it...That will help with power peaking a little later in the curve...
The 928's are a newer spring and they support .650 lift...

You know what I just caught that and since I have a Tex clutch I should know better.

I see the 928 is a dual spring vs the single beehive.

Dude, if you are running a stock LS6 cam, there is no way in hell it is peaking at 6500. Maybe 5500, but no way is that cam is carrying peak power out to 6500.

I just looked it over again and you are right, but my peaked stayed within 5 hp from 5800-6600 and never really dropped as we hit the limiter.

Stock LS6 Z06 with LTs and 'intake'

Alot of these aftermarket cams seem very peaky and/or drop off so suddenly, but I never understood why.
