Atleast this thread might help you decide what parts and setups that you should stay away from. Very informative, I think the T/A guy misread this threads title

wow, ive been looking at doing H/C on my car. I have 126,000 on the odometer, and I dyno'd at 100k. I am making 346/365 with boltons only. I think the tune had a lot to do with it. Im scared I might only pick up 50hp, thats not worth the money. I might go FI instead. Im thinking magnacharger for that massive street torque.

Great thread.

I do have an 85 GMC S15 with a 383 small block with ported stock heads and all the other good stuff that only made 285/340 at the wheels through a th350 and a 12 bolt with 3.73's. I cant even say that its fast on the track. The only thing that truck is good for is boiling the back tires at 50 mph.

Probably not the weakest, but I routinely see cam-only Z06's that make 420-450rwhp without ported heads.

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me, but my tune is spot on. I've thought about adding the 92/92, but then it will be even less impressive having a H/C/I car putting down pitiful numbers. I'm just gonna keep saving until I can get rid of these heads and go with the TFS/Dominator2 combo I've been looking at for a long time.

Based on the posts in this thread and my personal experience, I'd say stay away from Patriot and you should be all set going H/C NA.

Keep in mind you've got an LS1, not an LS6. Should have bought an 02-04! j/k

Just reread your sig: 420/400 or so with ported 243s and a mid-sized cam (or mid/smallish) is definitely nothing to be upset about on that motor.

Seems like most of these posts are auto cars with big converters and tall gears, in which you have to expect low dyno numbers, but at the track they tear it up.

Also I see some people hating on heads/cam cars making 450? Why? My car made 436/400 cam only with a FAST setup, untouched 241 heads through a 6 speed.

I don't belong in this thread but I had to add the first comment, I'm sure every single car in here that has heads/cam and is an auto would drag my nuts at the track even though on paper my car makes 50+rwhp.

Very good point. Maybe someone should go through the thread and make separate lists for the autos and the M6 cars. I'd do it, but I'm not very motivated right now.

I am probably am pretty close. 428rwhp 39x torque, but only yields a 12.9 @ 114.55 in the 1/4 mile. Before the h/c the car was running 13.1 @ 109 ish with mac mids/ lid/free mods. I just dont get it at all??? I do understand i have stock gears and tires but it should be at least in the 120mph range. I think my cam is too big or my heads are shot.

Ported ls1 heads flow 300 cfm at .600
242 242 .610 .610 114 +4
all bolt ons except ewp

^^^Get some Long tubes on there and drop the mac mids, if that is what you still have. Big cam needs to breathe!!! But with the HP and torque you are showing, you should be better than 12.9. Are you getting enough fuel to the engine? Do you notice the engine rev's a little slower than before mods or has a lag/sluggish type feeling? Not sure what you have done, but may want to look into a fuel pump or injectors...

I still have the mac mid length headers, and I'm using svo 30 pound injectors. The car does seem to rev quite sluggish. My hp tuners is displaying about 88 to 90 % max injector duty cycle, so i dont think im running out of injector. Within the next month i am ordering a wideband to see where my wot is at. Maybe my timming and my pe tables are way off.

If the track you run at is not a sea level track then it'll be tough to hit 120mph with only 428 rwhp and a stick.
