Default 02SS a4 w/comp xfi 224/230-117.

Well here we go again.Third cam in about 6 months. If you go back and look
at my past post you can see the results of 1st a PatG spec, then recently
a FMS F11 on a 114.The FMS cam was nice but there again I just wanted
something tamer.Well I ended up having the heads pulled because of a
bad lifter(noisey).I was looking at cams in the 220/224 range.
So after seeing this thread by RyanL.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/906564-2003-z06-cam-only-432rwhp-400rwtq-guess-cam.html
Mike Norris suggested we try this cam on a 117lsa.I know,it is pretty damn
wide.s.Also orderd a set of TEA 5.3 1.5's milled to 61cc.
When I first heard the car run it was exactly what I wanted.I could hardly
tell there was a cam in it.This is totally opposite of what everyone seems
to be looking for.But when Mike called and said it put down 420/374 locked
I was happy.Only expected in the 380 range. This is with mods listed.
ss3600
ud pulley
ls6 intake w/s2 tb
pacesetters w/hi-flow cats into a hooker exh.
3.73
Very pleased.I would like to of seen more tq though.I plan on putting on a fast setup,85mm maf,and bigger lid and injectors next.Stay tuned!

I would like to thank Mike Norris. As busy as this man is,he always seems
to make time to talk to his customers and help them every step of
the way.You know he has heard every question, and comment about
what someone can do to there ride time and time again, but he always seems to have an answer. Mike went way outta his way in my case to
helped me out.Not many people would do that.We are lucky here in
Orlando,FL. to have a shop like his.

I will see if Mike could post the graph,I'm unable.

Good numbers! So was this with the TEA 1.5's? How do those compare with the 243's (obviously better but how much)? Got a graph we can see? Also how does it drive after the tune and why 117? Sorry about all the questions but this is looking like the cam I would get for my Z.

420rwhp through an auto? That's smoking with such a wide LSA. You will make all of the TR224 guys think twice about their choice.

Yes this was with the TEA 1.5's. I had been thinking of going with
some 243's after seeing Ryan's results but I liked what the 5.3's
had to offer. 317cfm@600.
The whole reason for choosing it on a 117 was Mike's idea.
I just wanted a smooth idle and good traffic manors.I know it is
not the way to pick a cam,but it worked for me.I think that even
PredZ's hybrid stealth cam is on a wide lsa,I was considering that
cam as well.I might just have to hit the track soon to get some #'s.

The TR224 is hard to beat. But through cats and a y-pipe,and NO cutout.
I think the split in duration helped out.Not to mention all the attention
the xfi lobes are getting recently.

Nice numbers! The XFI lobe cams are very nice

What was the rpm peak and how much advance (if any) ground into the cam?

Sorry for the thread revival....but does anybody know how this cam would perform in a stock longblock LQ4 6.0L (stock 317s, stock compresstion 9.4:1)? with the 117 LSA....
