Default PART 2: Dyno details for MTI S2 LS6 heads & C2 cam>>?s<<

Hello all,

well I still havn't been able to find my darn install disk for my scanner so here is a breakdown of the heads/cam numbers. I'm looking for suggestions for my setup, again any and all info appreciated... Thanks

Car was driven around for a while then taken directly over to the dyno, and the weather was around the mid 80's if I remember correctly. Also, the fan was not used durning any of the three pulls. Each pull was done in succession of each other with about a minute pause between each pull.

RWHP/RWTQ (SAE)

First pull peaked at 401/378
Second peaked at 402/384 let off before rev limiter hit

Third peaked at 408/384>>>

RWHP/RWTQ
1.5 -- 85/290
2.0 -- 120/310
2.5 -- 160/320
3.0 -- 195/340
3.5 -- 240/360
4.0 -- 285/370
4.5 -- 325/380
5.0 -- 365/384
5.5 -- 385/370
6.0 -- 408/355 HP held until about 6.2 then dropped with limiter
6.3 -- Stock limiter completely flatlined my engine

Cam only/same mods dyno results peak RWHP @ 6.1 = 375
peak RWTQ @ 4.8 = 365.1

Thanks for any and all comments or advice

What was the A/F ratio on your dyno run? Those are some good base numbers without programming. There should be quite a bit left in it from programming and other bolt ons.

And to clarify... you picked up 33rwhp and 19rwtq from your stock heads to the MTI stage II LS6 heads, is that correct?

These were all quick none diagnostic runs--Still need to buy ATAP or something to monitor

Yes, the heads alone yielded the increases in HP

Also, I can't remember for the life of me if these heads were milled, to the best of my recollection these heads were not milled. I bought these off of Poolfanatic--If your out there bro please chime in and let me know, thank you. Oh, and love the new power but need traction like never before.

Nathan,

Good to hear from you buddy! Glad to see you made it back home safe and sound.

Those are pretty good numbers with that cam and without tuning (the heads weren't milled BTW) but there's a couple of other things I'd consider:

1) Bigger camshaft - I went from the T1 to the X1 and gained 30 rwhp. You won't see that many going from the C1 to the X1, but you will see some good pickup and the heads can take all the cam you can throw at them!

2) PCM Tuning - You're leaving some power on the table by not having the car tuned. If you'd like, I can talk to Jayson over at MTI and see if he can do anything on a mail order tune for you seen as how you're running a set of MTI heads on the car.

3) ASP Pulley and Cutout - should be worth a few extra HP.

These three things shoud yield some pretty good gains over what you've got right now. If you recall, I was pushing 445 rwhp with those heads and the X1 so I think there's still a few more ponies to be had safely.

Shoot me an e-mail and let's talk some more.

Regards,

David

SSable (Justin) made 427 RWHP though cats with a similar setup as you . S2 LS6 MTI heads, C2 cam. But he has tuning and a pulley. That will give you an idea of what you have left in it. That's on an 02 M6 SS. FLP headers (with cats in ) and Corsa exhaust.

Sorry it took so long to log back in, but my computer like froze up or something??? Probably some damn virus or whatever they call those things nowadays???

boos2: Thank you for the info, then it looks like I'm right about where I should be at. Again thanks

Thanks for the welcome back Dave
Yeah, I'm kicking myself now for not buying your X1 cam when you had it up for sell. Also, do you think I should wait until I install the TB, pullies, gears and cutouts then get tunning? I'll probably wait until I throw in the bigger cam though.

Nice hearing from you Dave, and yes, that would be really cool if you could ask Jayson about the tunning of my car. Thanks again,

Nathan M
