450RWHP Possible On A tr224??
Hey guys, so I am posting this thread because I have seen many dyno numbers for cars that have 224 cams but it seems like everyone that goes with this cam gets budget heads, intake mani, or other parts. So is possible to make 450rwhp with this set up?
TR224 cam
Fast 92/92 (ported)
AFR 205's (ported)
1 3/4 inch LTs w/ 3 inch catted X pipe and 2.5 inch catback
NO EWP
NO pulley
This would be in an M6 C5, so what do you guys think, does this set up have what it takes for 450?

At the fly??? Dude was that a serious response? Some cam only cars put down 370rwhp which is close to 450 at the fly and they are cam only. I saw a guy on here not long ago that make 450 with an h/c/i 224 through an m6, he had an EWP and u/d pulley but still, I asked this question to see if anyone has gotten close to 450. Saying I maybe will get it at the flywheel is rediculous.

before i installed an EWP and U/D pulley i was at 444/395 with a ported 90/90, Patriot Stage II heads (59cc), LT's, Comp 224/224 .581/.581 @112 lsa. (M6 car)...
tuned right, you will be close like i was...
sure i went with budget heads, but its not worth an extra $1200 to squeeze out a little more power to see if it could reach that 450 mark...

RPM in Lewisville, TX worked and tuned my car. They have been the only shop to touch my car. They were very aggressive with the tune, going every 100rpm to make sure it was a nice consistant A/F ratio across the entire powerband as well as the timing. they pull no tricks, and i have gone to other shops and the output has been within +/- 5rwhp/rwtq, respectively...
they have set my rev limiter to 6800 for that small cam, and feel confident that its still carrying itself safely spinning that high. make no mistake, they know their ****. some people say they have had issues with them but i never have...
granted, i was mid 440rwhp before the EWP and U/D pulley install, but that ported 90/90 is what really made the difference in my setup...
i really dont see how you cant reach 450rwhp with the route youre going...

Yea I was assuming that the tune was going to be fairly agressive. I'm in a C5 which has a little more drivetrain loss than an F body so I figure that will cost me about 10rhwp/rwtq but I'm hoping I'll be close to the 450 mark. I just looked up your dyno sheet, I love your tq curve. Spinning to 6800, wow I wouldn't have thought it would be that high but RPM knows their **** alot better than I do haha, what do you shift at when racing? Do you have any track numbers for your set up? I would think mid-low 11's at 120-123 trap would be possible

I am at little over 400RWHP. I still have some left to gain if I go with a fast intake since there is still alot vacuum left. I am also running a LS7 clutch with the LS2 flywheel (heavy), Strange 12 bolt (eats some more there), and 11" TT2's (a little more there). The car was tunned by The HPfactory and ED did an awsome job. I would think that with stock rims, rear, and clutch a TR224 is capable of 450RWHP. I know that my number is not the highest but my car pulls hard as hell , and thats where it counts.
