Track time guesses...
Here's something to throw you guys off a bit. It's still an F-body though! Anyone think they can guess what my track times would be? To me it feels like 16s but LS1 guys that ride with me say it's faster than they thought... Dyno sheet from JBA Performance in San Diego.
Applicable specs:
1999 3.8L V6 Firebird hardtop
4L60E that throws P1870 codes every couple months
GU6/G80 (3.42 gears and a Torsen LSD - factory)
124k miles
Applicable mods:
Whisper lid
K&N filters (air/oil)
LS1 aluminum driveshaft (stock was a 1-piece steel like LT1s)
Stock 02 WS6 muffler-back
High-flow cat
UMI non-adjustable PHB
!spare
!jack
!rear seats
Chrome LS1 Firehawk wheels (275/40/17) Nitto 555 front, 555R rear
I throw on the stock 16" twisted 5-spoke TA wheels with Riken tires every once in a while (track days, road trips).
And the not-so-helpful mods:
32/19 OEM swaybars w/poly bushings
KYB AGX shocks front (stock springs)
Bilstein HD shocks rear (stock springs)
About 10-15 lbs of sound deadening (just did the doors).
The Firehawk wheels make a noticable detraction from acceleration, especially from a dig.

The last two times I raced on a prepped course, it was over 105 degrees outside. I think I'll stick to cool weather from now on.
You could say "Why? It's slow anyways." - to which I would reply "Why drive a fast car? Theres always a faster car out there."
The answer is: To have fun.

People with 9s cars think 11/12s cars are boring. But is there anybody here that would turn down a C5 Z06? Or an '03 Cobra? A high 14s/low 15s car is still "quick." Nothing to be ashamed of, as long as you know where you stand on the totem pole.

I like to think my car is fun to drive, especially in canyon runs where 1/4 mile time is less important than maintaining speed. 3 point subframe connectors are going on along with sticky tires on the Firehawk wheels pretty soon. Probably will increase the 1/4-1/8 time but also increase corner-carving ability. I also use the recommended alignment settings for autocross, instead of stock (which feels tankish, TBH). I already had one local guy challenge me to a canyon run with his V8 car...
Yep, people get jaded. I love when I can drive my uncles ~420hp Nova, but it's always down for repairs for most of the year. He's always drunk on my birthdays and his car is always running by then, so I always get to drive. When I go cruising with guys from Tech I try to stay near the back of the pack so as to not **** anybody off with my 118MPH speed limiter... LOL

People in general are dumb. But many people could mistake his car for a Formula, since it looks identical to a regular Firebird. And people complain that all Mustangs look alike
