I ran 13.2 the first and only time ever on the track with a Mach 1 on street tires. So how is that a high 13 second car? Sounds to me like its right there with the better LS1 times. LS1 F-bodies at the track average mid 13's.
ya i corrected myself on the time. mach 1s did run low 13s stock

im with him... mach 1s are neck and neck with an fbody on average... the fbody usually has a fender on the mach... but sometimes the mach will beat the fbody by 2-3 lengths and the fbody will sometimes beat the mach by 2-3 lengths.. but all equal neck and neck...

And remember, the Mach I drove is very, very, very low mileage and incredibly maintained. I have a 2 owner, 80k mile Z28.

even thou the cobra's a better platform, it is alot more $. sure after 2k in mods it really shines but then its like what 12grand more than the f-body? 12grand in any car can go a very long way. . . IE you could get a completely new motor and tranny and rear end for near 12 grand. . . and that would put the F-body much over the Cobra. . .

but i hate to add any wood to the fire cause this arguement is played . . .

just like mustangs! hahahahaha

Not saying anything to you but what you said reminded me. At first I really though the Mach I drove was a turd, I even complained about the lack of power. However after the car reached 15,000 miles she woke the F up!

Compare a low-mileage 6spd '02 F-body (since 6spds generally draw more $$) to a similar-mileage '03 Cobra and the price difference shrinks dramatically. Of course you can get a '98 Z28 less than an '03 Cobra.

02 ws6 6speed fully optioned with 40k on it.. 14k..
03 cobra fulled optioned with 40k on it.. 21k..

7k difference... not even enough for a stroker.. a good fully built ls1, with a rear under it, and a partially built tranny...
of course thats doing work yourself..

ok thanks for more exact numbers i was really just guessing, but with 7k extra in price you could have a good rear end, and fully built auto, and some left over, now add the 2k in and thats near 3k left over if you do some of the work and that 515hp H/C/I was only 3000. then the 2k at the cobra and near what 550? now that LS1 will tear the cobra a new one at the track, but from a roll it might be more in favor of the cobra, so yes this goes on and on

cobra would actually be more towards 475.. depending on what mods are on each car, and how well the cobra driver can drive.. i would say it would tear it a new one... but it should have the win.. from a roll the cobra has it..

without spray on the ls1 it is going to be a pretty good race... with spray from a dig it shouldnt be too close.. from a roll the cobra will be right there on its *** with the ls1 spraying.

OP, now go drive a stock LS1.

When I had a H/C SS, I was so impressd with a 470rwhp pullied bolt on Cobra (before I actually bought it) that I actually bought it.

I would still have it now over the C6 if I had not sold it for other reasons at the time.

Most of us have cars putting out close too or at least 400 rwhp so the stock stuff seems like nothing.

Houston and Dallas both have tons of 9-10 second street cars on the road almost every day.

There's a ****-ton of ignorance and stupidity in this thread...I don't feel like setting all this straight today either

With todays economy I have seen ws6 fully optioned cars go for less that $10,000, but this shouldnt be a comparision since like u said cobras came out after f-bodys were gone and they were always more expensive MSRP. I think nowadays you could get a c5 z06 for cobra prices which IMO is a car that I would take any day. But for my budget and my taste a 2002 camaro was the perfect car for me, and yes they have alot of potential
