Question Grand Prix GTP VS SS Camaro

I have a 2000 SS camaro 6 speed stock and my buddy has a 2000 Grand Prix GTP supercharged and he has Intake and Full exhaust with a smaller pulley. How much horses do they have with those mods and what times do they run? I am planning on racing him.

If you can drive I really don't see you having any problem... he should be high 13s with said mods I believe. (Im no expert...just remember reading up on them when I was looking to get one about 10 years back).

That would of course be if he could manage to hook up..his front wheel drive will hurt him big time.

i own both drivetrain setups and if hes running high 13's with those mods hes a lucky guy unless the pulley is really small but then he would need more that just exhaust work. your ls1 shouldnt be sweatin it. he should be mid-high in the 14's i would think and my t/a stock ran high 13's as an auto. that should give you a good idea.

Most likely he is low 14's or high 13's. I had a GTP with a little more mods and it ran 13.8 on street tires.

The SS shouldn't have any difficulties leaving that in the dust.

SS will win! Post this on club gp and they'll all say the LS-1 will lose.
I have a gtp and had a very modded turbo gp. I don't go on that site much anymore cuz they all think the gtp is the fastest car ever.

Just don't F up your launch and you'll be fine, and even if you do you still should be able to catch him. Quick cars though for what they have.

Well how small of a pulley? 3.4 or smaller? If he's smaller than 3.4 he may be in the bottom 13's or high 12's judging by the blatantly broad exhaust mod decription. And careful, bottom end is where the GTP shines with the roots blower. It's after 2nd or so they run outta steam. Bang those gears and you should win.

no contest. you will kill him from a roll, a dig, reverse, looks, style, gas mileage, and just all around in life.

gtps are slow.

unless you happen to put it into reverse instead of 1st...

Your not lying on the low end... I had a GTP in front of me on the highway one day when the car in front of the GTP started slowing... it was open highway ahead of us so I waited for the car to turn and moved out to pass the GTP... I was spinning some taking off from a slow roll but that damn GTP didn't make it easy for me... I think I hit 2nd before I even gained anything on him. Of course it was long over went I hit 3rd...

Tell him you'll race from a 60 mph roll!! Like others said, they fall on there face up top. If he had a turbo, that would be a differnt story. My 99 turbo gp would pull very hard from a 50 roll. My 04 comp(supercharged) is junk from 50 up.

Oh, what supercharger does your friend have? Gen 3 or Gen v? The gen v is a better supercharger. What pulley? Does he have a intercooler?

pulley, exhaust, and no tune?....

14.0-14.2......kr is probably sky high on that thing

s/c 3.8 isn't the easiest thing to mod if you don't know what you are doing

my old gp gtp with 3.4, colder plugs, thermostat, fenderwell intake, tune would barely crack 13.9 with zero kr....

and it fell on it's face at 80..
