Whats this cocky ford guy got under the hood??

So some guys from texas cam to cali for work, one of em has a 93 cobra the other an 04 mach 1, so i got to talking to the cobra guy and he said hes getting some work done and his ***** gonna smoke me, basiclly said forged internalls upgrading valvetrain blah blah blah dont care about stuff that adds no HP, whats importan to me is he said hes staying NA so no turbo or supercharger, now i assume hes gonna get a cam and some nice heads, but even with those hes only got 235 crank HP so maybe 180-200 RWHP?? so with the heads and cam maybe getting him to 350 if he get a BIG cam and som NICE heads. he said hes shooting for 400 i said no way your dreaming without FI or NOS, then it hits me, why would dump a ton of money on forged internals if you not spayin or charging, so i realized his forged internalls is also a stroker kit maybe from a 302 to 350 not sure how they're stroker kits go. he also said we can pop hoods and look around, well as we all know a stroker kit can't be seen so what you guys think?? more to the mods than hes letting on he seems pretty confident for a 93 cobra i am an 02 SS M6 stock

Who ******* knows what he's got. A H/C/I 302 can spank the **** out of a stock LS1, much less a thoroughly built 347.

Lots of option for those 5.0l. 2 of my friends fox are at my door with their 'mild' 331ci fox body and I'm H/C/I. They can be quick as ****, but a lot of those fox are budget build with **** head/parts and theyre not near a stock LS1.
Forged internals would be a stroker for sure. But with the stock 5.0l block its not recommended to go over 500fhp because the block is not strong enough.

a head cam intake mustang will do a lot better than 235rwhp. i dont know where you got that number from. most hci mustangs do 305-330 rear wheel on a stock shortblock. 347's with a decent yet streetable hydraulic roller will do over 400rwhp. my old 351 with a heads,bullet cam and edelbrock intake made 468 to the tire with 10.8 to 1 compression on 93octane.
i have several friends that have made over 500 rwhp on a little 347 with eagle ****,good heads,solid roller and carb'd.
i have owned several fords and chevys. dont ever underestimate fords. the blocks have limitations but the do very well with the right parts.

My bad that wasn't clear.... i meant stock hes making 230 crank HP, and just like u said WITH..... H/C/I i thought hed be about 300-320 rhp depending on his build. a pretty good race for me depending on the weight ratio. I just thought he was kinda confident for those basic mods, till he metioned the internals, which is kind of a dead give away to a stroker. Also i've raced 3 5.0's and walked em all hard, they were stock of course, so i wanted to see how i'd fair against a top end modded 5.0

My uncles foxbody with a built NA 347 runs 11.4's. I have seen a Foxbody w/ a 302 with bolt on's and a cam run low 12's
BTW a 93 cobra was slightly underrated. Yeah they claim 235 hp but many were making close to that stock. Either way a 302/306/331/347 built right can be nasty

OP - you sound like the cocky one. Granted none of us know how arrogant that fox owner was, so we can't gauge on that, but you seem pretty up there too. That's MO anyways.

i beat a vortech supercharged 302 the other night at the track.. it was a "drag car"..
he was loading it up on the trailer..

was neck and neck though.. he ran a high 7.4 i ran a low 7.4..
no telling what he has.. and even if he has "XXX" mods.. no telling how fast he is..
