01 Cobra 1200+ rwhp
I have this guy at my work, has an 01 cobra, vert, and has the following done to it.
Forged motor (he said every single part)
8.1:1 compression
bolt ons
cams
Stock T56, stock 8.8 rear, stock gears (he didn't know what gears it had, and I certainly don't)
and he says right now, it's "probably" making something around 400-450 to the wheels. Sure, I have no idea, but here is where my eyebrow gets raised a bit.
He's convinced he is going to put on a Paxton supercharger (I looked, the biggest one I could find was the Paxton SL?), and he's going to be running 30 lbs of boost and make 1200 horse power to the wheels.
Forgive my ignorance, but I thought Paxtons were always on the lower side of big numbers to the wheels? I asked him if he was going to do a big Kenne Bell or a 3.4 Whipple, and he said that they were both too small.
Possible, plausible? In the future, I'm probably going to have to put up with his bullshit, so that's why a forged 408 is on the way, but still.

Stock gears on that year Cobra are 3.27's. No 4.6 is going to make 450rwhp period! Let alone with 8.1:1 compression. He's not gonna make more than 700rwhp (if he does at all) unless he has different/ported heads, a short runner intake and some custom cams with the paxton. He needs to do a lot more research to realize his power goals because his current parts list is lacking in a lot of places.

Thanks for the responses guys. He *might* have ported heads, because now that I think about it, he offhand mentioned "they flow 300"....
I then remember trying to ask him at what point were they flowing "300", and he said he didn't remember. Yeah...I also asked how well it was running with that low of compression naturally aspirated, and he replied with:
"Down low I can feel it, but up top where compression doesnt really matter as much, you can feel it putting power to the ground"

Also if he has cams, then he should be upgrading his heads/intake as well.

Quite possibly. He is one of those people that thinks he is a know-it-all, and if you happen to have a different opinion than his, he will tell you why you are wrong in at least 10 different ways.
Anyhow, I guess I will just let people waste money however they want.

People are so matter of fact about making huge horsepower. They don't even understand what it takes to make that kind of power for the most part. I'm calling 100% BS on this one.

My novi 2000 (not on the car yet) is advertised up to 970hp. So they can make big power but nowhere near what that asshat is claiming. If he does have a built motor I'd say when he puts his blower on the car it'd make between 500-600rwhp. Seems to be about the norm when it comes to 6 rib setups that I've seen on the net. My goal is between 600-700rwhp on 8 ribs and 22-24psi. That should be fun at 2850lbs. lol.
But I will have to agree with Unit. After I bought my novi..I ended up spending twice the amount I planned on spending just for the fuel system. Dual pumps, rails, 60lb injectors, etc. For someone to mouth off a number and not realize what it takes to get there definately lets everybody know they're full of poop.

Hey Fang. Hope things are going well. No she was about 6 months pregnant with our son before she realized that getting in and out of it was just too much. Then putting him in his car seat would get real old fast. So we picked up a silverado quad cab and I picked up a little beater to drive to work.
I picked up a car trailer and probably going to run the car N/A one last time. Trying to find that magical 50* day and beat my best then the gloves come off. Novi, cage, more weight reduction, etc. Going to try and run 10.0's on the stock longblock with the novi. If it blows..oh well.

Good deal Mark. I can see her not wanting to fall into the car and climb out when it comes to getting in and out of the car.
A Paxton blower is probably not the best blower to go with. A Procharger and Vortech are a better choice.

Possibly because I've never owned a mustang, I was always under the assumption that kenne bell was the way to go, or better, a whipple (or even better, a retardedly large turbo). Is that wrong/right/partially correct?

Turbo obviously is the most potent route, unless you look at a guy like Billt Glidden who dominates with a nitrous SBF.

It depends on what you're using it for, and how/where you want to make that power.
