Default Out running a c5 Z06?

Ill make this easy and simple I have a friend that has a c5 Z06 with longtubes, full exhaust, intake, and larger throttle body. I have a 98 SS m6 with mods listed in signature. I am tired of getting worn out by him. what would it take power wise to turn the tables?

Your gonna need atleast a pretty heafty sized cam with supporting valvetrain components if not heads aswell. My cam only car runs 12.50s on street tires where the typical C5 Z06 can run 12.20s. The Vette can prolly hook up better than what I can which is why the better time, highway it would be very close but the Vette might still take it.

Full bolt on c5 z's run close to 400rwhp with full bolt on's. Like what everyone else said. A hefty cam to put you in the low 400rwhp range and DR's

It wasnt me you ran....my car has been down for over a month. bout to install a monster stage 3 clutch. Depending if that Z was an 01 or not will let you know how close to 400 at the wheels he is. Im mostly full bolton and i put down 362rwhp n 369rwtq. 02+ with same mods generally put 380+. Your gonna atleast need a cam to make it worth while and it least be in the 23X 23X range. A MS4 would do the trick...i plan to add an MS3 to mine this summer

What the hell guys, the zo6 isn't untouchable.. Seriously, heads cam and intake and he *might* have a chance?

Add
ls6 intake
410 gears
decent cam (you don't need anything like an ms4/ms3 to get the job done.. Something in the 228ish range will do just fine)
tune
tires (depending on how the race is set up)

That will set you out a little bit past him.. The only advantage he has on you would be ls6 heads to your **** 98 heads and a couple hundred lbs... You have 410 gears a cam and a tune..

when I was bolt-on's only, I still hung with, or inched out cam only f-bodies

heads/cam package if you want to put a few lengths, cam only with intake if you want to match him.

Don't forget the gearing and weight difference in the Z06...it's a powerful car in bolt on only form.
