Oh, and I didn't build it, it had almost everything (except the 4.10s) when I bought it, so I'm not sure on some of the specifics

It has one of those "corporate" motors in it, not a real Pontiac engine. j/k

sounds like it should run better. sometimes when a shop works on, they will keep the "good" parts for another project and put lesser parts in yours.

I'm going to guess there are 2 reasons it is not faster:
1) your 60' is not very solid
2) no stall converter

Resolution: stall converter and drag radials

Can you post a full timeslip so we can help more?

Yeah, shitty 60' 1.9 is the best so far. Its got a B&M 2400 stall, so pretty frickin low

Unfortunately I'm at work, I'll check out some time slips later and post them

I ran BFG DR's last season, didn't like them much

That's a crappy converter. Pretty much a rebuilt 12" stocker.

Put it a REAL converter, something along the lines of a Yank or Precision Industries 3200 stall, put a 3.73 gear in (4.10 is too much IMO). Those along with some stickier DR tires and you should be low 12s easy. Ditch the horrible, HORRIBLE shorty Edelbrock headers and you might see 11s.

What y-pipe and catback?

Oh. Lovely. I was planning on moving up to a 3600 sometime this summer, I'll move that up the to-do list I guess

Why is 4.10 too much? And what's wrong with the headers?

Unfortunately I think the exhaust is stock, other than the muffler. I was thinking of putting in a cut out?

I don't think 4.10's would be too much with an auto, just needs to be matched to the stall and the tires. Plus you have an auto so you have an advantage in launching.

What is your shift point? 4.10 is too much for most mild auto applications - many perform the same or better with a 3.73s.

The Edelbrock headers? They're not much better than stock manifolds. The primaries pinch down to nothing at the collector. They're crushed into a tiny 2.125" collector.

Ive seen you post quite a bit about weight reduction so it seems this is a track car that may lightly be driven on the street right?

If it were me, id put longtubes and a cutout(if your track will allow it open), then a stall that will match with the cam, and maybe even look into a pair of 15x8 prostars with some et streets.

What is done to the suspension? Still running the front sway bar? If so yank it off and 60 fts will improve for sure.

Our track director just emailed me to tell me that thanks to the new high end subdivision that was recently built next to the track, we now have to run MUFFLERS at the track. ******* lame. Apparently the snobs were complaining about the noise. So there goes my idea for the cutout

I drive the car almost daily in the summer, so I've been a bit worried about yanking the front sway bar. I've got a fairly twisty road on my way to work. Suspension is stock so far, was going to start on that this year, just not sure which direction to go, or where to start.

Yea that's pretty lame, the swaybar is a big part of your problem, it comes off easily. With it on the car can't transfer the weight and your 60fts suffer. If you can drop your 60fts to 1.6 or 1.7s your track time will greatly improve.

Adding your "kidding" statement at the end of completley worthless post doesn't mean you can freely **** up technical threads. Stick to you usual drivel in the Ford threads.
