Default Ill ask here since its a newbie question

Ok its just a theory or maybe a fact but my friend has a 99 z28 with 3.73 gears, the first time we met was at a street and he didn't have a hood and 2 passangers and he blew my doors off my like 2-3 cars , 3 months has past and last friday we went to the track, knowing that he smoked me bad on the street i was like he's going to beat me, well he didn't and I beat him no times since it was just hand dropped

anyways after the track their is a huge open road at least 10 miles down, we go and decide to do a little roll, he honked it off and he took the hit and he went but i instantley floor it and left him about 2 cars behind he had a passanger and me none

so did taking off his hood greatly make his car get more air and that was the reason his top end just killed me or not sure ?

Very doubtful. Having the hood off wont make it take more air in, or even colder air since LS1 cars are bottom breathers anyways.

Some people don't know how to drive an auto. Being serious. Did u shift manually and he left it in od? Or vice versa?

He could also have possibly been running bad from something being worn down at the track.

No hood slows your car w/ less aero dynamics and i would say you learned how to drive your car better thats all.

maybe he had full tank of gas and was weighing him down. LOL!! JK sounds like just better driving. Cutout does help a little but not that many lengths better.

Idk how it wouldnt help, every stock airbox has atleast a 1 inch slit in the front of it, and the bottom is sealed. No hood, shoulda been ramming much cooler air in there then it usually gets. Same effect as when people buy an SSRA, FTRA, Chris1313 ram air, and seal the front with weather stripping and cut the bottom of the air box out. You start shoving air in that box the faster you go and much cooler air then it can bring in normally.

ram air is max 15 engine hp, not even whp. Wont make 4 lengths difference.

You never mentioned if you were roll racing or racing from a dig, that will make a huge difference since you are both autos with different gears.

False, I hate when people make a blanket statement like that. How could you possibly know that. The Chris1313 ram air has shown 2 mph gains in the quarter consistently. Im not 100% but believe that is more then 15 crank horsepower.
