Finally Got the cage Installed
Just got my roll cage installed by sickspeedperformance.com.The bar is actually from wolfe racecraft. Heres Some pictures. I painted it myself. It took me a few hours last night to just tape everything off. Let me know what you think. The one picture of the weld just has some dust on it.

chromoly man, weight is the name of the game lol I actually just got a replacement carpet from speedinc. Some guy said it wieghs 9 lbs with no padding. I pulled all of the padding off and its not no 9 lbs lol
Yeah i hope it holds up too. Price wise i believe its as expensive as rust-oleum . I think the 2 coats of clear will help it hold a bit more ?

I wanted to use regular spray paint because it lays on the rollbar good, but was concerned about how durable it was. That being said, I ended up using a urethane/epoxy paint on my cage, that is very durable, and when applied in light coats with a foam brush will lay on pretty good. Not quite as nice as spraying it, but it's tough as nails and has held up great.

Ozite carpet is the lightest way to go. The carpet in my car ws 7 lbs shipped with a mile of plastic on it, and I only used about 75% of what they sent me. Probably less then 5 lbs in the car.

Hey JL, do you remember exactly what you used to paint? I was gonna use brush on POR-15 when the time comes, but always open to more options.

I have the can at home, I'll take a look and let you know. It's actually a urethane/epoxy paint used for boats made by 3M if I remember correctly. Thick as hell, and you have to brush it on.
Stuff is tough **** that I can guarintee. You can hit this crap with a hammer and it doesn't come off. The Pinks crew didn't even scratch it off when they were clamping camera's to the car. My drivers side bar has one scrape on it where the window net bar hits it and that's it, I didn't scratch it once all season climbing in and out of the car whatever that's worth.
Plus applying it with the brush vs spraying, night and day easier. NO overspray to deal with, thread starter knows the pain involved with trying to stop the overspray mess... glad I didn't have to deal with that. If I had gotten overspray on the exterior paint I'd have about lost my mind.
Hell enough of you have seen the car and know how I keep it and am about that kind of stuff.

OK I checked the paint it's actually mae by Ben. moore, it's a urethane epoxy paint for the exterior of boats.
Black, goes on great with a foam brush.
Those that have seen my car know how smooth it goes on, I'd give it a 9 out of 10. If you really wanted it to look perfect, I'd put 2 coats on, then wet sand one with 1000 grit or so then do a final coat. This summer while I'm taking it off, if I get bored enough I still have about 1/2 the can left maybe I'll try that. If, I get that bored. I'll have the car apart anyway, so while it's apart maybe I'll do it, see if I can get it to look like powdercoat
