Possible relocation to PA
Possible relocation to PA Im looking to transfer to PA for work. My office is in cannonsburg but i will work in the field so I dont HAVE to live there. I work in the Oil Field as a Directional Driller. Where is a place that is not podunk in PA
The most metropolitan place would be the Philly area. Cannonsburg is just south of Pittsburgh, so I am going to guess that you'll be surrounded by a bunch of ignorant hillbillies (that's my take on Pittsburgh, anyway). PA is behind the times with many things, but people seem to like it. Ignorance is bliss in PA!
It will probably depend on where you are from if you will adjust to being here. I was born and raised in Central PA, but moved to DC a couple years ago before coming to Pittsburgh. It's been wayyyy harder for me to adjust coming back to PA than it was leaving.

Im about 35 miles north of pittsburgh. I live around a bunch of miserable old farts and unemployed ******** who stare at me in my Camaro like its my dad's car or something. Hillbillies? Yes, a lot of em. We are behind in times. Born and raised here. Don't like it. Would like to move before I die here!!
Although, on the plus side, it is quiet and relatively crime free, and its a nice scenic area. Thats my take on the area.

I live right across the river from Harrisburg (capital) and I like the area. There are nice suburban areas and youre like 15 min away from city or complete nowhere depending which way you drive. Its also only like 90 min away from Baltimore/DC area and Philly. Philly also has some really nice suburban areas as well as Lehigh Valley. I know youre talking about western PA, but eastern is nice too. Check out www.EPFBA.org and make a post about areas to get some input on there.

canonsburg is not bad. has a lot of very nice areas local to there. pretty much close ot anything you ever need. it has changed a lot in last few years and one of the areas that is rapidly booming for pittsburgh area.
the housing market is pretty stable. we haven't been hit with recession like most other places in country.
