Default Emissions in N. Virginia

I'm looking to pick up a 98-02 LS car. I am new to Falls Church, VA and was wondering how hard it is to get a modded car through emissions. Do they do visual inspections, sniffer and computer scan? Just one or some combination of the three? I looked at a car from Michigan that I liked however he took all the emissions stuff off so I think that's a deal breaker. I would appreciate someone with first hand knowledge to enlighten me please.

thanks and

Chuck.

Not sure, I live out in Front Royal, so I don't have to worry about those things.

Front Royal isn't that far away I would think it would be the same. Do you have a modded car?

Most of the county's in Virginia have emission testing. I live in Stafford county and I have no emission stuff on my car but I changed my garage jeridition to a county that does require emission testing.

I know in Illinois you can get past the testing because they just scan the car for codes. I'm hoping it's the same in Falls Church.

Still looking for someone who knows...

Thats what I was thinking they just hook up to OBD port ,so as long as you have no codes form check engine light coming on it should be good to go.

Negative, we have no emissions tying out here. The only counties that have it are the NoVa counties, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Arlington, and Stafford, plus the cities in them.

All they do is hook up to the OBD port and scan for codes. In VA you are required to have emissions testing on your car if you garage you car in the following counties: Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William and Stafford, also included are the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park. Hope that helps

So Falls Church would be just the OBD hook up? If that's the case I'm golden!

thanks again for the input guys.
