Default Interesting Day at the dyno...

We took my step bro's 93 mustang GT (mild heads/cam car) to the dyno. His car had run a best of 13.6 @ 104.xx on street tires with ~2.4-2.6 60's. Well, he makes his first pull and he is in the mid 15's A/F, so we shut it down. I adjust the regulator from 40psi to 47psi...he re-runs again and puts down 248rwhp/278rwtq. Dissapointing, but we kept playing. I richened it up some more so he was at 12.7-13.3 across the board (his A/F profile wasnt quite linear). I also turned his timing up from 13 degrees to 18 degrees. When all was said in done, he ended up with 270rwhp/301rwtq. His peak gains were 22rwhp/23rwtq. He also gained 47rwtq @ 2500rpm and averaged around 30rwtq gain for most of the curve. Good day...his car is alot peppier down low now.

When you play with the fuel pressure make sure to check the part throttle fuel trims on the Stangs. It might learn into a too rich condition

I'll be sure to check it out Don. I thought the O2 sensors would control the part throttle fueling. I didnt really think about the "learning aspect" like our fbodies have...thanks.

He has the following:

edelbrock 6307 heads (1.94/1.50 valves)...ghetto heads
E cam w/ 1.6RR's
shorty headers/OR x-pipe, either flows or Mac catback
Cobra intake, 65mm TB, MAF, CAI
24lb/hr inj.
suspension, KC clutch, 3.73's, etc.

He bought it completely done. He has added a hood, rims/tires, and now a dyno tune.

I am sure I could have gotten better numbers than he got. He doesnt understand the "riding the clutch" out technique when using street tires. He kept dumpin the clutch at different rpms...

Sounds like a decent combo. I was on bone stock gt40 heads with an F cam. Also had cobra intake, same bolt on mods, same gear etc etc.

I dont know if his MAF is junk or what, but it took 15psi of ADDED fuel pressure to bring him from the low 15's to high 12's in A/F...seems like alot. That is a 38% increase in fuel pressure (started at 40 and finished at 55psi)!!
