Tank the block, hone the cylinders .0005, install new cam bearings? Just trying to get an idea of what I should be paying for this work. BTW any suggestions on where to get this done in the Chicago area?

Oh, Canadia. I was there last weekend for a race. What is the current exchange rate with dollars?

Why would you do that if he didnt spin a bearing or bust a main? I say between $250-$400 depending on if its a joe blow machine shop or race shop, and especially how busy they are. Machine shops are the most notorious for hammering prices if they have plenty of work.

In my shop it's going to cost you $225 for the hone job w/torque plate, $45 to hot tank the block, and $50 to remove the old cam bearings & reinstall new ones plus the price of the cam bearings. Grand labor total of $320. Get references of shops that do performance work on LS1's and be prepared to pay more for people who consistently do quality work. You usually get what you pay for!!!

My buddy has a full blown machine shop in his garage. He has everything to hone a block, bore a block, deck a block,do heads, hot tank, he has it all. I just have to help and all my stuff gets done for free. He used to work in an engine shop building circle track engines and dynoing engines all day everyday. He's a good friend to have
