Question Your Opinions- what DD?

First off, the Camaro isn't going anywhere, and is tucked away in a nice heated, secure garage on a trickle charger for the winter. I'm just looking for a new DD. In a perfect world, it would be new, have 4 doors, AT, AWD, factory NAV & Satillite radio, a touch of bling, big power, comfort, not be more than low $40's...but I'm open minded about this criteria...just looking for your ideas and opinions. TBSS, SRT8 Cherokee come to mind...SRT10 p/u has always interested me, as well as a GTO...what do you guys think? The Tahoe's loaded and 4wd price out north of $50K- too much for a Tahoe IMO even though I do like them...what else is out there?

I assuming snow or bad weather wont be a factor in RI.... Personally for a DD, I like GTO out of the group, the SRT10 pick up gets like 8mpg and is very nose heavy. That front end going to have to be rebuilt every 60k. I always like Acura's but thats me.
If they still offered a 97-03 style GTP id buy one of those now, but they dont

If your looing for a fun daily driver you can get the new Mazda Speed3. With 263 hp and 280 tq the thing should scream It comes with a 6 speed manual tranny and it's front wheel drive. good for the snow .. The base model is 22,800 and the grand touring is 24,550 . I was looking into getting one for the wife but she wanted a toyota matrix. The speed 3 does 0-60 in 5.8 sec. The Gto is nice but everyone is getting them .

I just got an 07 Avalanche and love it. You can get that or a Tahoe pretty well pimped under 40 and they have rebates and stuff. Its exactly want you described what you wanted.

I'd go with the truck. You can get a good one for $40k. My Avalanche only cost us $32k fully loaded.

I'd agree with Mike if the srt8 is going for that price. IMO, the GTO is nice, but wouldn't be great for a DD, since it does snow in RI. The SRT10 is awesome, but like said, bad mpg and is expensive. I think the TBSS is a little overpriced, but then again is about the same price of the srt8. I think the avalanche is also a good DD, and are pretty sharp.
I have always liked the Acura TSX for a DD car as well. My roommate has one and they are awesome cars. Good luck!

As much as I hate buying foreign stuff, I have to give my vote to the Accura for a DD. Drive everything you mentioned, then drive the Accura....you'll have a easy decision then....not to mention they kill everyone else in reliability...too bad we (USA) are killing ourselves in the auto industry. WJ

TBSS - Nice SUV

SRT8 Jeep - Really nice but I worry about the powertrain/drivetrain. Since Benz took them over, things seem to be better but I dont know if they are using the same power/drive train combo so whatever. You dont see alot of high mileage Dodge's on the road for a reason in my eyes.

SRT10 - Plain out awesome if you dont mind the gas consumption and it is more of a weekend car and less of a daily driver... no auto and it's only rear wheel drive.

The new Avalanches have come a long way with style, they are slick. I always liked and still would take a Silverado SS AWD pickup over the rest.

If you dont need the extra seating space, I'd go with the Silverado SS, if you want more space, it'd be a toss up between the TBSS and the new Avalanche's.

I'd say SRT8, then TB SS.

I'll be getting a new D/D in a year or two. I Love the SRT8 and I like Cherokees, but either vehicle for me is not economical. Those things get like 10mpg, and I drive about 120 miles a day.

I'm looking into a Cobalt SS or a Mazdaspeed 3.

30+mpg, cheap, fwd better than rwd for snow, and fun to drive. I'm a Chevy guy at heart so I might get the cobalt.

That's what I thought too, but I just found out that the "Quad Cab" versions have A4's, and there is a dealer down the street from here that has 2 of them, a black one and a red one. Also, I heard they might not be making them for '07, which if true, is interesting. I've always been bummed about missing out on so many limited production vehicles in the past, like TR's, TTA's, Syclones, Typhones, 454SS's, Impala SS's (from the '90s), that if this is another one of those vehicles that we'll never see again it makes it a little more interesting to me.

Here is the question
You have a 600+rwhp car.

Why waste $$ for a so-called fast but still slow built up truck? I can definitely see a nice 4wd truck but this SRT8 crap and superfast trucks is just a waste of $$.Expecially since it's a daily driver/commuter vehicle.

Having the Viper motor is what makes the idea of it so cool...but I hear you- having a 2WD P/U w/ 500HP would be pretty gay for a winter DD in New England. AWD would make a lot more sense. Plus that quad cab Viper truck would not be much fun to fit into parking spaces.
