Unhappy Bitter Sweet, an old trusty friend is gone

well, as some of you know, my families boat the Beautiful Noyes has been in our familiy since 1990. i grew up on her, she was a great great boat and i had so many good times i can not remember all of them, now as i have grown up, i have also started new good times with the boat, now i have memories with family and friends, from Mario's first cold water experiance to timmy1 almost drownding after some jonny black, to my nieces first boat rides! i remember so many goodtimes over the past 16 years aboard the boat. she was an old trusty friend.
now in 1999 she was struck by lighting killing all the electronics and other things like the air conditioning, the batery charges ect, but she came back better then new, and served our family for another 7 years.
well, as some of you know, the big danvers explosion was right next to a boat yard. well, that boat yard was the home of our boat. when this explosion occured the beautiful Noyes was aproximetly 200 feet from the building that blew, and very sadly, the old girl just couldnt take it. she was deemed total loss as well as 98% of the rest of the boats at the marina. she didnt go down without a fight. she has damage that is1/2 of what boats right next to her had. the one directly beside her wasblown into pieces, our boat is still in 1 piece, just many minor things that will add up to more then the boat is worth.
very sady we have to give her up. i have to say good bye to an old friend!

on the sweet side we have been boat shopping and have currently signed the papers on a new boat, and hopefully the start of some new and great memories.

we have yet to come up with a name for her yet, but we will takedelivery in the spring.

names so far are
bitter sweet
more noyes
imagine that
hole lotta noyes

here is a link to the new boat.

here are more pics of the boat

http://www.riviera.com.au/usa/rivier...otogallery.htm

anyway, a good fairwell to an oldfriend.

scott, we are not sure of a name yet, our name makes for pretty good stuf.
its a pretty cool last name, and a name we are proud of.

as for the sea ray, they are ok boats, and the egg harbor is ok as well, but not our style. they have gally up which is alot of waisted space, also, egg harbor went under a few years back, and have not updated much over the years, there technology is behind. nice boat, but for the 36-38 foot range the |Riviera was the best boat we could find.

yes, we got insurance, but it wont even cover 1/4 of the new boat. they give book value of an 89 tiara even tho it was all updated and redone, it just doesnt matter. anyone who knows us or that has been on the boat will tell you, the boat looked as good as new, or damn close to it. it was very well maintained.

"more noyes"

that is a winning name. sorry to hear that it is gone. hopefully you can snag a few little trophies off it to throw onto the mantle or your new boat as a reminder of all the good times she gave ya.

I have to break your ***** brad......I mean Im proud of my last name...look at all the resturants.

I saw a boat like yours in the new york boat show last weekend. I just love the egg harbor and the teak. His boat is diesel and 12 yrs old....close to a million dollar boat, to much for me. The sea Ray I looked at was only in the 200's.
