Who's Running No Cats in MA?
Hi, I posted this up a while ago, and I am posting it again. I am in the process of buying a set of kooks headers with a off road y-pipe. I am going to be running no cats. I can get a sticker no problem with out them, but has anyone ever gotten pulled over and a ticket for no cats? What can they do if you have no cats? Thanks, and go PATS! Ryan

I don't know about in MA but in NY if they want to check no cats they can give you a 1k fine for every peiece of emissions equipment you are missing. So that would be a 2k fine for no cats probably the same or simliar in ma.

as long as you dont throw a code, and your car isnt absurdly loud, you'll be fine... most shops are too lazy to actually crawl under there and check. ask around for people that live near your town to get a reference for a nice and lazy shop. i know a good one in danvers, but thats a little far from you.

Could you put some cutouts in the header? That would be some loud *** ****, and if you put them high enough on the header they'd be hard to see without putting the car on a lift. You could run open cutouts all day with a catted Y behind it. When they pull you over everything looks stock, but when you open them up you'll have the performance of a ORY. IT might be really hard to do, I'm not sure...just throwing out ideas.

You never know whos googling stuff, and youd be surprised at how many hits this site gets.
IMO, if you have an in with a shop, keep it to yourself or PMs. I'm sure nobody wants to get screwed. They take this stuff seriously now...
Other than that, your car is going to be loud as fack, with an ORY and Loudmouth. I get away with my LTs, ORY, and Hooker. But its still loud as hell. You have to pick and choose your spots. It really depends on the local PD, and how lienent the guys are out on patrol.

OK here;s the deal It is a federal offence to take cat's off of a car that was born with them. I do not have them and I run during race season A loud mouth with a dynomax bullet. When I go for inspection the dynomax stays on and I put my stock SLP cat back on. All my exhaust sounds are in my sig. I say If your not an idiot and go beating the car around town you'll be all set. Because It can get retarded loud. The police hate that even though there Harley is louder not there cop harley the one in there garage. I'm actually think i'm going to go with a true dual set up with borla xr1's I think it's quieter than my loudmouth.
