Some guys over at gmfs are stating I should stall before headers. Any comments? I know NOTHING about stalls. I am a 4x4 guy...this is my first car ever. I went from a 91 Cherokee, to an 89 Chevy, to my 97 2 door tahoe. I am still trying to sell it so that I can get my wife a new car.
Any one willing to stop by this weekend to check the car out. I will provide some beer. If you know where TCC on Princess Anne is by the Gold's Gym that is the area I live in.

I will start looking at the PS LT's like a couple have suggested on here then. How much of a PITA is it to install. I already notice there isn't any room compared to my Tahoe.

No, the owner is a retired MC however. He works there or Dam Neck on the civilian side now. Right now we are in Portsmouth for our yard period.
Will do on the header install. You said you're running the PS's?

Installing them isnt hard at all.... The PITA is uninstalling the stock manifolds. Being that they are 10yrs old, Im sure you will have some trouble. If you run into any trouble, just take a sawzall to them and be done with it.

Still runs great... Got HPTuners and have been making a lot of small improvements with that that have all compiled to make it more fun and enjoyable to drive, and still lay down decent numbers. I did finally make my goal of running 12s n/a . It went 12.89 @ 106 all motor with the same cam and converter as before in the 5.3... Like I said, I just ordered a custom built intercooled front mount from a sponsor over on PT.net... He's setting me up with an MP T-70 turbo so it should spool pretty quickly and do well up top too. I'm sure Ill be getting with you Shawn on some parts for the rest of the setup... (Injectors, cam). Anyway, I'm looking to go into the high 11s with the 130K mile 5.3L before she goes pop... Then it will be a forged iron block 5.7 in its place... Looking for deep 11s then. We will see how it goes... Probably take me the rest of this year to get it all done and dialed in... I'm working 85-90hrs a week...

It really depends on what you want from the car.... A stall will probably benefit you more being a A4, but headers will definitely wake the LS1 up. This is going to be your daily driver.... Right? So I wouldnt necessarily go with a big stall or anything, maybe a 2800 or 3000 stall at most. If it were me I would just get the longtubes installed and tuned.... See how you like the power and then go from there. Youre gonna eventually get the longtubes anyways.... Right?

I know for a heads and cam setup it would be optimal, but he said the most he will probably do is just bolt ons, so.... I would think a fairly low stall like that would be perfect. Especially since it is a daily driver.... And the higher the stall, the less "daily driver friendly" it will be.... Right?

and yup im running the PS. Love the sound, I believe i gained from 313~hp/tq to the 340~hp/tq after installing those and an ls6 intake. (while still running the stocker catback)
ill pm you my number.
+1 on the stock manifolds..one of the o2 sensors was siezed up, and both the stock cats were siezed. So i just cut it all off
So plan on spending a little extra possibly...and it wouldnt hurt to get some new header bolts....i reused mine and wish i wouldnt have God emagine if those break off in the head. Oh, and FELPRO header gaskets are a must, va speed sells them.
FYI While your headers are out is a perfect time to change those spark plugs in less than 30 mins.

On my 99 SS M6 I went from 297rwhp/308rwtq stock to 352rwhp/360rwtq with just a MTI lid and the Pacesetter longtubes with dual cutouts.... With the stock LS1 intake too.
This was running through a full spool 12bolt with 3.73 gears though.
