Default Credit Unions in CFL

Can anyone recommend a "public" credit union in the Orlando area?
I'm tired of getting bent over by big banks.
Even a small local bank where I would be treated as a customer rather than a number would do just fine.....

Fairwinds is good. Also Central Florida Educators. Im part of the UCF Credit Union which is awesome, but you have to be student or family of faculty to become a member.

Do you know if Faiwinds has "shared-branch" locations? I was looking into First Florida and they are set up with credit unions all over the country. So if I was out of town and needed to go into a branch to speak to someone face-to-face I could.

CF Educators has shared branches, I didn't check nationally but I know they have them all over the state.

BB&T is a great bank. We are in the process of switching over from B of A.

BB&T doesn't have a ton of branches in Fl., but they did just purchase Colonial Bank. Most of the Colonial Banks will be converted to BB&T branches.

Good Luck!

Fairwinds has treated me good, I have a savings account there and had a car loan there.

But I've been happy with BOA as well, free safe deposit box, free advantage checking, good online banking, never paid them a fee for anything...

Another vote for CFEFCU - been with them for 10 years now - always have the best car rates.

just a heads up, BB&T may seem great now, especially after BOA, but they are still a large corperate bank.

Not Credit Union, but I have never had a single complaint with SunTrust in almost 9 years. Even had the XTerra financed thru them and was happy.

another vote for Central florida educators, though I find State farm is the vest for getting car loans, super low rates and free GAP insurance.
