ask alot of questions on what type rod(or wire) will be used.
Stainless can be mig welded with mild wire but will rust.
Its a completely different animal when you use the correct stainless wire.

If it is 304 stainless you will need #308 wire if using a mig, thats what I use and have had great results with no rust welding.

If I were you, I'd ask about getting it done with 4-bolt
flanges along with some straight pipe replacements, so
you can swap back & forth, drop the exhaust for work,
or deal easily with some future cat failure. Shouldn't add
much cost if any.

Have you thought about adding a bullet muffler in the I-pipe, that should tone it down a bit. I installed a burns race muffler in a friends I-pipe and it made a diff and took out the rasp, just welded it in and used a V-band flange clamp to drop it in and out if he wanted.

No I didn't give that any thought. Already ordered some Magnaflow cats they should be here today. These should tone it down and eliminate the smell.

I suggest Oviedo mech and muffler, they do very very nice work. Not the cheapest, but it's clean and precise.

They just did a Mac prochamber and mufflers on my friends Vic with stainless works headers.... It sounds sweet, and the welds look machine quality.
