Default Announcing my temporary resignation from the automotive hobby!

Well, some of you that know me personally know that me and the wife have been trying to have a baby since Jan. of last year. We were successful, but it shortly ended with a miscarriage that hit us hard. Well we tried again soon there after and again we were successful. She's about 10 weeks along now and we had our first Dr. appointment yesterday. I know most of you are thinking "There's plenty of other members who have had kids and still keep their hobby alive", and I agree 100%. The plan was to still be able to be a part of this hobby with a kid, as I have multiple friends that were able to do it as well. But, this is a little different. Since she had the miscarriage with the last pregnancy, the wife really pushed for an ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok. The Dr. said ok, and we saw this

Count 'em.....There's 3 in there! That's right, we're having triplets!! Because of complications after the miscarriage, the wife was put on clomid (makes women ovulate) to help with getting pregnant. It's not the typical fertility drug you hear about that causes 6 babies and what not. The chances of twins on it are around 7%, and less than 1% chance for triplets. And yes, we bought lottery tickets yesterday too, lol.

I know it would be difficult enough to keep this hobby alive with one baby, but it will be damn near impossible with 3. I really don't plan on getting rid of the Camaro. I'm mainly just not gonna have time to work on it and/or make meets/drag racing events that I normally do. If I have to sell her I will, as in the end it's just a car and there's PLENTY of f-bodies out there when I'm ready to get back in the hobby. I'll still keep it for now and drive it when I can. But after I finish this 4l80e swap, she'll be done with mods for awhile.

Congrats- my friends are pregnant with triplets right now too. FYI, the odds are about 1 in 8100. Kids doesn't mean give up your hobbies. If anything, you will NEED a hobby to help control blood pressure and the additional stress the additional load will add. I'm a big believer in scheduling time for stress reduction. Working out, eating right, and having a dog will help out a ton as well. Good luck.

Take a step back from the hobby, but don't abandon it completely.

I agree. I'm gonna try not to get rid of the Camaro if possible, and keep it as a stress relief to drive every now and again. And we got the pet thing down too, lol. We have a great dane, English mastiff, and chocolate lab....along with a cat and a Dumeril Boa. I also golf regularly and recently got back into weight lifting, just hoping I can keep all those hobbies alive!

Funny - my friends with Triplets on the way also have a great dane. Good dog with kids (they already have a 2 year old as well). just prioritize and you will do fine - life is all about a balance of time, money, and resources.

Congrats Brian!! I agree 100% on throttling back and focusing on the family. While I still get my share of racing in, my frequency as well as doing any other car activities has been downgraded a lot since my son was born two years ago. But we still need our fixes every now and then...

I was in the same boat and did the same thing. When I found out we were having twin boys, I bought another corvette. Now that they are almost 13 ( so is the car), I think its time for a new corvette before they give me a stroke lol

Glad to hear you arn't getting rid of the car unless you have to, especially with all you've done to it in the past year and a half. But congrats man, that is truly a blessing

I'll be done in August. Due date is October 8th, but triplets usually come early. What sucks is I wont be taking the bar until next February.
